Some love stories begin softly, in unexpected places — like a dinner arranged casually by a mutual friend. For Heidi and Rick, both pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists at major academic hospitals, that dinner set up by Rick’s longtime friend and fellow physician, and was the start of something instantly magnetic. The chemistry was undeniable, and five years later, they would say yes in Mallorca, surrounded by 40 of their closest friends and family — including their two sweet children, Zachary and Eliza, who played central roles in their ceremony.
This wasn’t just a wedding — it was a shared adventure and a gathering full of meaning, intention, and global togetherness. See all the beauty below, with design by our Guide Member Jove Meyer, captured by Paco and Aga…
Fashion Notes
Heidi wore two gowns, both by Berta, changing just before cake cutting to start the dancing portion of the night. Her shoes were classic Jimmy Choo — the same pair worn start to finish.
A Destination That Felt Like Home
Heidi and Rick always knew they wanted a destination celebration — something intimate that doubled as an unforgettable vacation for their families. With most guests traveling from the East Coast or Michigan, Europe felt like the right fit.
Enter wedding planner Jove Meyer, who guided them through locations and ultimately landed on Spain — a place that aligned naturally with their lifestyle and aesthetic: warm culture, relaxed energy, exquisite food, music, and wine.
“I had never been to Spain,” Heidi shares, “but we love the food and wine, the music, and the relaxed/welcoming approach to Spanish culture. We pictured our guests enjoying tapas and amazing wine all day and night and really just chilling together.”
Once Spain was chosen, Mallorca — and the iconic La Residencia — captivated them instantly. Nestled in the mountains of Deià, the property offered the exact balance they imagined: lush grounds, soaring peaks, nearby sailing and vineyard experiences, and endless corners to explore. Guests extended their trips through Barcelona, Paris, and Greece, while Heidi and Rick spent time in Amsterdam with their children before arriving for their wedding week — a meaningful, healing milestone for their family after their son’s medical journey.
A Love-Forward All-White Celebration
Heidi didn’t want to walk the aisle alone in white — she wanted visual unity, symbolism, and a palette that felt ethereal. So she did something bold and incredibly chic: an all-white dress code. Though they envisioned “all white,” their aesthetic now feels even more prescient given the global spotlight on Pantone’s newly revealed 2026 Color of the Year: Cloud Dancer — a luminous, soft, creamy white tone that embodies new beginnings, hope, and inclusivity.
“White is the color for new beginnings, hope, and inclusivity,” Heidi reflects. “EVERYONE should wear white. The people who came to support us wore white to show us that — and that’s what I see whenever I look at the pictures.”
With the mountains of Deià as their backdrop, the all-white celebration took on a timeless, almost celestial quality.
Heidi’s most unforgettable moment still brings tears:
“My son walked me down the aisle toward Rick, who was holding our daughter. It was pure magic — a pinch-me moment. I knew then that I really had it all.”
And in one of the day’s sweetest serendipities, little Zac had no intention of missing cocktail hour. Instead of being whisked away by the nanny, he stayed — igniting a lively game of tag with family friend ‘Dr. Peter,’ a pediatric cardiac surgeon. Their laughter echoed across the lawn throughout the afternoon — a memory Heidi says she can still hear.
Planning Wisdom from the Bride
Heidi’s biggest pieces of advice:
-
Hire an incredible planner.
-
“Plan the party YOU want to attend — not the one you think others want.”
A Honeymoon Wrapped in Family Time
Instead of escaping post-wedding, the couple chose a pre-celebration trip — two days in Amsterdam and eight at La Residencia. It was the first time they had traveled since their son’s PANS/PANDAS diagnosis and his new therapy.
“We were nervous,” Heidi admits. “But it was better than okay — it was the BEST week. It set the bar for our family time together.”
Those days, she says, are the memories they continue to chase.
