Los Angeles friends, have you attended any events over at The Ruby Street in Highland Park yet? If you love modern, artistic design AND venues with a history (it was originally a church, built in 1905), this one is a must-see. Betsi Ewing teamed up with Pigsty and K2 Event Production to add a Mexican-inspired twist to the stained glass adorned space.

This Galia Lahav gown. Quite the show-stopper, no?

They incorporated blue, red, fuchsia, orange, and turquoise throughout, knowing the bold color would not only contrast with the white details, but give off an air of celebration, too.

We wanted to find a design that was complimentary to the decor of the space, but also unexpected and unpredictable in nature. After brainstorming different design directions, we decided on a colorful modern Mexican theme that would be perfect for a summer wedding, utilizing fun, bright patterns with a mix of clean, natural elements—a look that we thought would work incredibly well in this event space.

In opposition to the color, we brought in natural elements by setting a long wooden table with distressed leather chairs arranged underneath a ceiling treatment of floral arrangements in terracotta pots hanging in woven macramé plant holders, which were then also used in the ceremony. Every detail was well thought out to correlate with the overall theme including the succulent cupcakes, mini flans, and churro bites for desserts and mini Casamigos tequila bottles inside shot glasses for escort cards.
