Spiced bourbon apple cider recipe with Crate and Barrel
If you happened to follow along when we styled a bar cart two ways last month, you probably saw a cocktail recipe coming, yeah? Although this spiced bourbon apple cider is definitely one you’ll want at all your fall gatherings, we had a cozy date night in mind when we whipped it up. It’s pretty obvi we’re not all throwing dinner parties every night (or even week), as much as we love them so, but casual nights in with our other half? Quite a bit more frequent. See how we made date night all the more special and snag all the Crate and Barrel sources to shop or add to your Gift Registry below:
Spiced Bourbon Apple Cider
16 oz apple cider
mixed mulling spices: cinnamon sticks, star anise, orange peel, candied ginger, whole cloves
1 tbsp brown sugar
8 oz bourbon
fresh grated nutmeg
Combine cider, mulling spices, apple slices (cut crosswise into circles) and brown sugar in a saucepan or pot. Bring to a simmer for ten minutes or so, then remove from heat and let steep for about an hour. (You can also strain and pour into mugs right away. The flavor will just be a bit less intense.) Reheat until just warm when you’re ready to serve. Strain into 4 mugs (or two since this is date night!), and add bourbon to each mug. Stir to mix together. Lastly, top with whipped cream (homemade with vanilla and a bit of sugar for bonus points), a cinnamon stick, and a few grates of fresh nutmeg.
It takes like the most delicious, boozy apple pie ever!
Serve ’em up in Bodum Bistro Mugs to show off the fall hue.
