Rustic summer canyon wedding in Orange County

blush and cream bridesmaids

Isn’t this bridesmaid shot by Kayla Adams sooo perfect? Stylist Ally Burnette sent this wedding our way, and that just so happens to be her standing front and center. She shared tons of details about how she + her guy Steven, a filmmaker, designed their day at Bommer Canyon in Irvine, CA—so let’s just dive right in, K?

Tip for all you mix ‘n match wedding parties: They had the gals wear pastels and the guys wear earth tones to go with the natural setting of the venue + their color palette.

The venue was everything we could have desired for a setting. The lovely green trees created a backdrop for our ceremony, as well as a canopy of shade for guests. Steven built a simple wooden alter, while I created a macramé hanging to act as a kind of curtain backdrop, with eucalyptus and garden roses to go with the natural setting. The reception area is where I was able to get even more creative. Considering the setting was already naturally breathtaking, I thought it would be interesting to marry two contrasting elements: the natural and the industrial.

From the pastel colored bridesmaid dresses, to the earth tones and greys of the groomsmen, the vision was to have an eclectic balance that fit the laid back atmosphere. We desired less structure, and more flexibility for our friends and family to feel at ease and enjoy the celebration! My ivory dress had a lovely lace train, and gorgeous buttoned back, which reflected a vintage era, but also maintained the whimsical feel of our wedding. With wild flowers in my hair, and a bouquet of foraged eucalyptus and garden roses, everything felt so effortlessly beautiful. We danced the night away and said our final goodbyes as we ventured away for our European honeymoon. Now we look back at these photos with such fond memories, and play our day over again like a movie in our minds for the years to come!

Thanks again to Kayla Adams for sharing the photos. And, cheers to A + S!
