Another perk of decorating your wedding after your fave interior design vibe: bringing in your own décor—AKA no buying extra things you won’t use ever again. And guess what? Décor they already had, DIY floral arrangements, and a guest list of 75 helped Brittani + Jonathan plan their perfect day for $15,000. Deets from our bride + photos by Rach Loves Troy below!

Okay, Brittani’s dress? Turns out she couldn’t find anything that fit her vision. So she purchased all three pieces separately—an Alexandra Grecco cami + tulle skirt, and a lace Rebecca Schoneveld top from Ivory and Beau. Which she didn’t see all together until three weeks before the big day, and then had to get altered. The belt was even DIY! So impressive and such a great case for trusting your vision.

The first look ended up calming their nerves and making the ceremony more joyful. B says, We opted for the first look and took all of the portraits before the ceremony so we could take the time to greet our guests during the cocktail hour. This is probably the only time that you’re going to have everyone that means the most to you in the same room, and for us, we wanted to make the most out of that time and enjoy being with each other instead of running from tradition to tradition throughout the night.

DIY projects included floral centerpieces, framed photo signs, and all of the décor. They also brought in signage from KMN Calligraphy.

Brittany tells it, I was born and raised in the south and our love story happened in central Florida (which I still consider “the south”), so we pulled much inspiration from that southern charm and the city of Savannah itself… Our guestbook was this beautiful photo book of Savannah with old and recent pictures of historic downtown building images next to each other. Our cakes were traditional southern style cakes with some of my grandmother’s recipes and strawberries from my grandfather’s strawberry farm in Plant City. We served pulled pork and had a macaroni and cheese station. One of our good friends (the matron of honor’s husband) married us. We wanted the feel of our wedding to be inviting, comfortable and fun, not stuffy and serious.

J + B’s processional was Hanson’s Lost Without You and they had their first dance to Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor and John Legend. They opted out of the cake cutting and bouquet/garter toss because it made more sense to spend that time with their fam and friends. Brittani’s advice? Forget expectations and make the day yours.
