Modern Metropolitan Building wedding: Kat + Fran

April 21, 2016

There are probably a thousand reasons to want your wedding at the Metropolitan Building, and Kat + Fran shared yet another: when you view it from the outside, you’re really not sure what you’re in for. Guests take an elevator up and are so surprised by the incredible space and city views. Isn’t that such a neat experience for guests? See all the photos + film by Danfredo Photos + Films in the post!

Kat says, We didn’t have a theme, but a good word to describe the wedding would be “halo-halo,” it’s Tagalog and means “mix-together.” Our wedding was a convergence of everything important in our lives: friends and family came from around the world, we paid homage to our heritages, the DJ spun our favorite records, and there were nods to moments in our relationship peppered throughout the space. The wedding was eclectic, not by design, but because it had to be to represent us. It was a very colorful event, but I used a loose color palette of gold, pink, and blue throughout and our bridal party wore gold dresses and blue suits of their own choice.

A bright bouquet recipe: pink + peach garden roses, yellow, plum, and hot pin ranunculus, wine scabiosa, white chamomile flowers, bupleurum, purple straw flowers, white veronica, and lots of assorted greenery.

Kat’s an art director + major DIYer, so she took care of the website, signage, paper products, and even the boozy popsicles at their cocktail hour. It looked amaze (obvs!) but was a ton of work. She says, To all the DIYers I’d say be honest with yourself and edit down your ideas to a reasonable amount. Then do what you can little by little, ask for help, and get crafty with resources if you still need more assistance. We ended up hiring someone from Task Rabbit to help with a few things and she did a great job! A close second hurdle was having to buy a second wedding dress. Note to all the petite ladies out there, be careful when buying mermaid or trumpet shape dresses—alterations can be very difficult!

Danfredo killin’ it with the film! Must watch. Plus, there was this moment:

We kicked off the dancing with a spontaneous couples worm. The DJ started and Fran got in a circle of people and did the worm. He didn’t know that I can also do the worm, so I went in and did it right after he did. The pictures of us doing the worm in the traditional Filipino clothing we wore for the reception are some of my favorite ones. His reaction was captured perfectly!

Congrats guys!
