Backyard California desert wedding

Backyard California desert wedding ceremony

Sure, we may have already witnessed one mega storm this week, but that doesn’t stop us from proclaiming that spring has officially sprung around here. At least that’s what we think when it comes to Steph + Alan’s backyard wedding captured by Stewart Uy. The garlands are lush, the blooms are pink, and everything has a midcentury modern desert flair that GATHER Events helped them channel.

Uh huh. What did we tell you?

Steph tells it, Alan and I met as freshman in high school, but didn’t start dating until the summer between high school graduation and jetting off to college in separate states. 8ish years later, he proposed during an Augustana concert at the House of Blues in San Diego. We had our first date at that venue, watching that band, and had been going to see them at least once a year ever since that first date. Even after almost 9 years, he managed to surprise me so thoroughly that when I saw him kneeling there holding a ring I forgot how to speak.

From GATHER Events… It was important to Steph to keep the aesthetic refined, modern, and fresh. Her strength as a graphic designer inspired her to be heavily involved in the design process, including collaborating with Type and Title to design her own invitation suite and event day paper goods. For the overall design, we fused modern lines, exposed wood, pink blooms and pastel blue textiles for a Mid-Century Desert Romance theme. The hairpin tables and mid-century lounges provided by Folklore Rentals and the larger-than-life ceremony garland installation artfully crafted by Plenty of Petals were the perfect finishing touches to give this backyard soiree class and sophistication.

Can’t wrap up without the film by McDuff Productions

The bride’s tips: 1. Prioritize booking vendors who will be spending the whole day with you, 2. Bring an extra pair of shoes for dancing, 3. And save extra copies of your vows in multiple places, just in case.

Cheers!
