Ethereal blue wedding inspiration

November 4, 2015
Bridal bouquet

How romantic and unexpected is this bouquet? That’s kinda what this whole shoot was about. Photog Dana Fernandez was inspired by the way artist Tracie Cheng combines architectural lines with an ethereal softness in her work. This led to the loveliest blue hued design to evoke that same contrast. With the help of Blush and Vine on floral and Nib and Pixel behind the invites, the concept is worked into every photo. Plus, models Elly + Jordan’s story made it all the more magical. Details in the post…

Dana says, The florals added a soft touch to the overall feel but creatively added in air plants so as to subtly keep in some edginess to the look. We also loved that we lucked out with an amazing moody and cloudy day as it really helped to tie in the overall feel of the inspiration shoot. Lastly, we chose a Vera Wang gown that beautifully tied in the architectural lines through the bodice while the train elegantly flowed behind the bride.

Wouldn’t expect anything less from Buttercup after the last time they teamed up with Dana Fernandez!

We loved hearing this personal story…

When I was searching for a couple to model that fit the feel of the shoot, I ended up choosing an amazing local fashion blogger Elly Brown and her husband Jordan. During the process of getting to know them she had expressed not only excitement about being involved in the shoot, but especially receiving the photos of her and her husband. The reason was that they had planned to be married in the fall of 2008, but unfortunately mother nature brought one of the most destructive hurricanes to Houston in recent history, causing their venue to close, leaving them with no wedding. Luckily, Rachel Ray heard about their story and many others and came to Houston and hosted a wedding day at the Houston Astro’s stadium where they and the other couples without a venue, were given a fun and one of a kind wedding ceremony on the baseball field. While they felt so lucky to have been able to have a memorable wedding day unlike most, they never ended up having traditional bride and groom portraits, so these photos would finally be able to give that to them! It’s amazing how certain people’s paths cross by chance and I am so glad that ours did and that we were not only able to make a beautiful inspiration shoot for brides everywhere but that we were able to give something so special to such a sweet and deserving couple.

Thanks to Dana + everyone below for such artistic inspiration…
