I was inspired by the idea of incorporating lots of color but in a glamorous, sophisticated way. Kohl Mansion, an incredible historic mansion just outside of San Francisco, is full of these amazing persian style carpets and mint colored walls. These laid the framework for our navy, mint, gold, fuschia, and ivory color palette. Lush florals by Twigss Floral Studio, incredible dresses designed by Amanda Garrett and Carol Hannah, and amazing hair and make-up by Melissa Hoffman helped us achieve a glam yet bohemian vibe while our amazing photographer, Jessica Burke, captured each detail to perfection.

Now that you’ve swooned over the shoot and are feeling inspired, wouldn’t you want to win a free spot in their next Styled. The Workshop, happening in Portland at the Ace Hotel? Totes. Keep on reading for all the deets, and good luck!

What is Styled. The Workshop?

Styled. The workshop is a two day interactive workshop for photographers and anyone interested in learning more about styling photo shoots and events. Hosted by Amanda O’Shannessy, owner and creative director of Amanda O’Shannessy Creative and One True Love Vintage Rentals the workshop consists of two sessions: a styling session and a photography session. Day one, the “classroom day” for styling participants, covers topics like the design process, styling tips + tricks, how to develop your artistic voice, and how to get published. On day two, the “photo shoot day”, styling participants work side-by-side with Amanda to bring a wedding inspiration shoot to life. Once the shoot is styled to perfection, the photography participants arrive to capture all of the beautifully executed details. Photographers walk away with gorgeous editorial style shots for their portfolio and a better understanding of how to get the best detail shots possible, whether a stylist is present or not. Styling participants, on the other hand, leave with the tools to better execute their own styled shoots + events.

  11. What an incredible opportunity! I am beyond hopeful to be selected for this scholarship and excited to see that it will be hosted by such an incredibly talented photographer. My interest is both personal and professional, and I can see no better way to get photography training and experience in the wedding industry than by spending two days in the company of experts at the top of their trade. I work in Portland, Oregon for LinenTablecloth as the photographer and graphic designer, and have no potential to acquire this sort of education without attending this workshop. I would love the opportunity to get the hands-on experience necessary to flourish in my position, as well as in general, as an artist in my own time. I look forward to you reviewing my letter.
