Lastly but certainly not least, our favorite wedding invitations! If you’ve followed our blog for a bit you know that we’re a tad bit obsessed with pretty paper. Invites, programs, escort cards, dessert bar labels – they’re there for everyone to see so when they’re done beautifully we take notice. Plus, announcing your wedding is the first impression your guests will have on your wedding so might as well make it a good one. These wedding invitations are ace!

When Cherry Berry Paper shared these wedding invitation designs with us earlier in the year we flipped! Gold foil details, horn blowers, multi-colored confetti dots spilling out of envelopes… um, yes.

Ladyfinger Letterpress had always worked with couples on creating a custom look for their invitations, so hearing that they were offering some of their most popular designs for purchase was music to our ears.

Loved the typography in these Alee and Press wedding invitations!

Using washed pastels, Pitbulls & Posies created the dreamiest paper elements for this California wedding.

The bride and groom from this Colorful Ohio wedding designed and printed their wedding invitations then later when on to open their own design studio, And Here We Are. How awesome is that?

This Moroccan inspired wedding shoot featured a gorgeous and brightly patterned invitation suite by Make Merry!.

We got to take a peek at this divine new collection of invitations by Mae Mae Paperie while they were on display at Urbanic in Venice, and mmm they were good!

This couple did a beautiful job with the letterpressed wedding invitations for their North Carolina wedding. They were hand painted with a subtle watercolor wash that made them oh so romantic.

These peachy wedding invitations from Suger Coated Events were such a sweet touch to this Australian wedding.

How could these invites not catch your eye? The typography, gold foil, and colors, love! Tabletop Made nailed it.

Ross Clodfelter aka F5 Photography not only photographed this North Carolina wedding beautifully, he also designed all their paper goods!

There’s the dress, then there’s the bouquet you hold in front of it as you walk down the aisle. Sometimes it goes with the season, your wedding decor, or it’s quite simply a mix of your favorite flowers. Either way, it’s always one of our favorite photos to show in our features and can’t wait to share this bountiful mix with you!

Favorite wedding dresses of 2012

Let’s talk about dresses. Lace, vintage, strapless, beaded, ruffled, sparkly… we could go on. Point is, wedding dresses come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and we love ’em for that. We’ve heard stories from brides that have had that ‘love at first sight’ moment with the first dress they try on, sometimes it takes months, or sometimes you just got to go the custom route. Whichever way this brides did it, they chose wisely. We’re going to let them shine one more time in hopes they inspire all you brides-to-be!

Sarah Yates is a dear friend and fabulous wedding photographer, so it was extra special to share her elopement this year. And that Monique Lhuillier ruffled beauty? We love how Sarah paired it with a hot pink cardi! {Photo by Max Wanger}

As much as we loved all the styled wedding shoots that came our way, we also loved the more minimal bridal shoots that focused on beautiful photography and pretty dresses like the ones in this shoot by Elizabeth Messina.

Every now and then we saw a bride wearing a blush gown, but the silhouette of this va va voom Ines di Santo gown made our hearts flutter! {Photo by Jen Huang}

This gorgeous Ines Di Santo dress is from Nikki + Andrew’s wedding and photographed by the lovely Caroline Tran.

Melissa selected a beautiful piece of French chantilly lace and went with customizing a simple A-line gown that would show it off. It was the perfect look for her vintage Australian wedding. So classic! {Photo by Louisa Bailey}

Choosing the right dress for a beach wedding can sometimes be a little tricky. We loved how Lauren chose a Catherine Malandrino crochet maxi dress. It was a nice little ode to their Mexican destination wedding! {Photo by Emily Blake}

Favorite wedding cakes of 2012

There are so many details to a wedding that we love, but the cake? It kinda shares center stage with the bride’s dress, don’t you think? It’s sugar done right and we couldn’t help ourselves from sharing the tiered goodness that caught our sweet tooth this year. Enjoy!

Oh how we loved the peach trimmed ruffles in this cake by Incredible Edibles. It suited this charming Southern wedding perfectly.

Ombre everything was pretty hot this year and seeing it in done flawlessly in this cake by A Wish and A Whisk, with that pretty touch of gold made us swoon!

This pink & black wedding shoot was adorable on so many levels. Like this sweet aqua cake from Cakewalk Bake Shop. So simple and so petite, but so perfect!

The talented bakers at Sugarplum Cake Shop hand painted blue and nude tones to this cake to give a slight watercolor feel to it. Lovely, isn’t it?

This chevron cake by Bittersweet in Chicago definitely played a star role in one of our favorite weddings from 2012.

Well isn’t this a pretty cake? Highland Bakery truly made this cake look like a piece of art for this fun pastel + watercolor wedding shoot.

If we could repost all the ah-mazing cakes from this modern wedding cakes post we would. Instead we’ll just share this polka dot cutie by Charm City Cakes that’s obviously too pretty to eat!

We’d never seen a wedding cake with so much texture (impressive, right?). We were so bummed we couldn’t see it in person at this year’s The Cream NYC, but wow, Lael Cakes, job well done!

Once you see how adorable this Lake Tahoe wedding and couple is, you’ll see why they had an equally adorable cake made for them by Dees Bakery.

We’re always fans of simple but impactful design choices, and this vintage Hollywood glam wedding shoot was full of them. Like this black & white cake by Miso Bakes!

Favorite weddings of 2012

It’s the eve before 2013 and we’re in total reminiscing mode. Sigh.. it’s been a heck of a year with a ton of gorgeous weddings. Modern, ruffly, sparkly, outdoor, destination, barn, classic, colorful weddings flooded our inbox this year and we want to take a moment, nah, scratch that – we’ll take the rest of the day to share all of our favorites. There is just so much pretty to share! Ready? Let’s do this!

This wasn’t just any wedding. It was the wedding of Miss James of Bluebird Vintage, her man Aubrey, and their beautiful children. It was photographed beautifully by Brooke Schwab and will make your heart feel warm and fuzzy. We promise.

The be-dazzling wedding of Amanda Judge, founder of Untamed Petals, one of our favorite accessory lines completely wow’d us! Loved every dreamy detail captured by Ellie Grover.

Max Wanger captured this Ireland countryside wedding beautifully, plus it’s one of those weddings that looked so fun you wish you were invited too!

Jesi Haack delivered a major punch of awesome and color in this modern Chicago wedding with a cowhide aisle and table runners, gold balloon table numbers, chevron curtains, graphic signage… ahh, it was a good one!

The bride’s dress swept us away, the photos of the Tuscan backdrop by Lisa Poggi are stunning, the romantic dinner with silver vintage cutlery and those candelabras – yep the entire wedding elegant and enchanting.

Ok, this Palm Springs wedding designed and coordinated by Bash, Please was just a tad insane. So insane that we had to split it up into three parts! Words don’t do it justice, so click on the photo to take you to the full posts!

The letterpress invites, bride’s handmade shoes (made by the groom himself!), and freehand silhouette cutting station at this Portland wedding, photographed by Bryan Aulick were so unique and fun that we had to have it on our fave list!

Sitting in a Tree knew exactly how to make this bride’s wedding sparkle, and EPlove knew exactly how to capture it all. A whole lot of glitter and a whole lot of pink peonies made this one of our favorite sparkly weddings of the year! And how cool is that instax photo canvas as a guest book?

The combination of the bride’s dress, moody and romantic photography by Dan O’ Day and the perfectly imperfect details of this couple’s venue were breathtaking.

When we found out Taylor Sterling, Founder + Creative Director of The Glitter Guide was getting married and that Edyta Szyszlo would be photographing it, we knew it’d be a fete to remember. It was a stunner, for sure!

Then there was the memorable wedding of our very own Amanda and her husband Tim, photographed by the amazing Max Wanger! It tops the charts as our fave and we’re still reliving it in our minds today. Sorry we’re teasing you with just this one photo, but it will all be worth the wait come spring when it’s released in Martha Stewart Weddings!

There’s enough eye candy here to keep you busy for a good chunk of your day, yes? We’ve got even more coming up as we dig through and pick out our favorite wedding cakes, invitations, dresses and wedding bouquets from the year. Check back in just a bit!
