pale pink tones and green bouquet

We love this wedding for obvious reasons – it’s straight-out-of-a-dream gorgeous. But after hearing how Britt was inspired by our Bohemian Summer Party shoot, she pretty won us over! They were married as the sun went down on Pfeiffer Beach, where fresh water from the Big Sur River meets the ocean (sounds dreamy already, right?), and is considered by the local Native Americans to be a sacred spot. Their ceremony was spiritually beautiful and ended with something we’ve never seen in a wedding – every guest joining in on a big group embrace. The area’s rich bohemian history was the muse for Britt’s barefoot bridal look. She ditched the shoes and forwent the veil, opting instead for beachy waves and a floral crown. Love!

So much of our wedding was inspired by our location. Bryan and I camped in Big Sur last fall and immediately knew we wanted to be married there. From the jagged rustic coastline to the wooded forests Big Sur is simply breathtaking. But we fell in love not only with the area’s natural beauty, but also its literary roots (Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac and even Hunter S. Thompson have been inspired by the place) and folk music history (Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and others played at the annual Big Sur Folk Festival in the 60s).

A special moment happened when we were driving away from Pfeiffer Beach to our reception at the Ventana Inn. We pulled over to pose for a picture with two beautiful horses. I grew up riding horses and so the moment felt like unexpected homage to the childhood I was, in a way, leaving behind.

We wanted an eclectic look, with diverse textures, the sort of mishmash of shapes and colors you might find when combing a beach. And so we used weathered brass containers, antique brass candle sticks, and sea glass colored bottles for our centerpieces. All of our flowers were grown locally and organically on our florist’s farm. She provided gorgeous protea, air plants, succulents, ruffled pink roses, perfect dahlias, fresh eucalyptus and all sorts of native spiny and textured wild plants to decorate our table. We collected feathers (the way you might when walking a beach) which were then loosely tucked into arrangements and hung from a wood beam in our reception space.

Glitter Guide wedding

There’s a column on Glitter Guide called Glitter Girl that shines a sparkly disco ball light on ladies that know a thing or two on finding the best glittery inspiration. Well, Taylor Sterling is the mother of all Glitter Girls. As the Founder + Creative Director of GG, we knew she would wow us with all the glitter & glam in her wedding. You guys, we’re in love with every sparkly detail. From her phenomenal reception dress, the bridesmaids’ studded and glittery sandals, to the gold frames with printed love notes and gold polka dot photo booth backdrop. She might also be one of the most photogenic brides we’ve ever seen. For our walk down the aisle we played the classic wedding song, “Canon in D Major” by Pachelbel Orchestra. The song has a lot of meaning to my family. After the ceremony we played, “You’re The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne –Joey and I love this song and consider it “our song.” He truly is the “best thing” that ever happened to me. Then we had our first dance to “Then” by Braid Paisley, another song that we hold dear to our hearts.

glamorous exit!

This isn’t really new advice, but something that’s very important. Make sure to let go of all your plans, expectations, and worries on your big day. The day goes by so fast, it’s like a blink of an eye. I knew this was going to be the case, but still had no idea it would that it would really be that fast. I wish I could have had even more time to see everyone, dance, and just soak it all up. It goes by in a wonderful whirlwind and you want to make sure you are present for everything!

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel wedding

Ok, just like us you’re dying to see photos from their Italian wedding, yes? We’ve had our eye on these cuties for a while now and were ecstatic to hear they recently tied the knot. They’re going to be one of the few that last, don’t you think? Until their official photos get released to the masses we wanted to give a little congratulatory shout out to the couple and give Jessica props for looking absolutely stunning in that pink Giambattista Valli gown. Justin, you can rock a dapper Tom Ford suit too. And did you guys hear that JT serenaded her while she walked down the aisle too? Le sigh. To be a guest at that wedding…
