Hope the 1st weekend of summer treated you guys great! We wanted to make it feel like it didn’t end, so we’re sharing a sunny San Diego wedding held at the secluded Condor’s Nest Ranch. Things you don’t have to worry about when booking the ranch: decor – you’re surrounded by acres of rolling hills stretching out to the Pacific, and everything but your photographer & desserts. The sweet owners of the venue have it entirely covered! If Christina + Francis look completely happy and at ease, that’s one of the reasons why. That’s not to say Christina didn’t find herself diy-ing, oh, she did.

Starting with their paper goods. All of them. They designed and printed their save the dates, invitations, programs, and all the cute signage you’ll see later on. Because they were printing everything themselves, they decided to cut costs by printing on chipboard instead of heavy card stock. Plus, it went along with the rustic charm of the ranch!

Okay, let’s talk about the pretty that’s happening in these photos. Like that beaded sash made by Christina’s mom! And that Tessa Kim Palma headpiece? Christina bought it on sale from our Pop-Up Shop back in February (yay!). Good news! She’s going to be putting it up for sale in our Marketplace very soon, so keep an eye out.

Christina and her sister collected reasonably priced flowers from Wholesale Flowers a couple of days before the wedding. Flowers used in her bouquet: eucalyptus leaves, craspedia, black dahlias, and white spider mums.

Their music! The wedding party walked out to ‘Heartbeats’ by Jose Gonzalez, Christina walked down the aisle to ‘April Come She Will’ by Simon & Garfunkel, and the two of them happily raised hands in the air and walked as Mr. & Mrs. to ‘Go Do’ by Jonsi.

This shoot, with its leather, black lace, and editorial vibe, brings engagement sessions to another level. We admire Heather + Jonathan for wanting something grungier than the typical e-sesh, and we respect photographer, Angelica Glass for her stylistic eye. We’ve been fans of Heather’s photography for awhile, and now it’s so fun to see her in front of the camera with her guy..in this “heavy metal apocalyptic romance” engagement shoot.

A few words from Heather: We knew we wanted something different though from your typical engagement shoot. I also have an appreciation for things that are more thought out and art directed (and love working on mood boards!). Heavy Metal Apolcolyptic Romance were a few words thrown around in thinking what we’d like our shoot to look like. I think we even watched Mad Max prior to the shoot. Jonathan has this amazing flat black beat up Buick. It has so much character and we know we wanted it to play a part. Jonathan and I also scouted locations that were desolate and a little grungy. Next we pulled clothes that we thought would compliment the mood (black lace, leather and heels). We were also lucky to come across a dyed black flag to accompany. I was also very fortunate to have a great beauty team Stacy Pitt (hair) and Nicole Sievers (makeup). I’ve always been such a big fan and admirer of Angelica’s work and have always wanted to work with her. We knew we were in good hands.

See more images on Angelica Glass’ blog!
