We’re loving what we see in this soft spring shoot! Alison Dahl Kelly, ahem, one of our fav Project Runway stars, recently added some new bridal designs to her Dahl collection that we just had to share with you. The shoot reminds us that we’ve still got a few weeks of spring left before we start complaining that it’s too hot, and that silk and tulle make a dreamy combo. With inspiration stemming from vintage finds, the dusky sky after sunset, antique doll houses, fairy tales and real life, we had to hear how she dreamed up these three recent additions. And yes, that’s her modeling her own dresses!

Floral Print Gown: I get a lot of requests from brides for ‘something different’ so I wanted to design a hand-painted floral silk gown for that bride who is looking for an unconventional yet ethereal look. I draped the pattern aiming to create a romantic design with sleeves– another design detail many brides are looking for these days. I could picture this gown working beautifully in a garden or outdoor wedding.

She included her adorable husband into the shoot… sweet!

Empire Waist Sheath Gown: This is my most popular wedding gown, not only is it timeless and elegant and fitting for many different body types, it can also be cut as a maternity gown. The classic empire silhouette elongates the legs and the soft, ruched bodice is cut from a supple and stretchy reverse-charmeuse (where the matte side shows, not the shiny side). You could style in a classic manner with a mantilla veil or make it more modern with a chic headpiece.

Tiered Tulle & Silk Frock: For those ladies looking for something short & sweet with a nod to times past, my tiered tulle frock is fit a no fuss look for a bride who wishes to show off her legs and don some fabulous shoes! The bodice is cut from silky soft stretch charmeuse to achieve a form-flattering fit that’s also comfortable. You could dance all night in this fun frock.
