You know why we love Cinzia Bruschini, aside from the drop-dead romantic moments she captured in Amanda’s Italy engagement pics? Because she’s completely inspired by love stories. So much so that she stumbled upon a Balinese wedding, of which she was not invited to (but so courteously welcomed into), and photographed it. The girl is adventurous! Yep, she basically “crashed” a wedding. This wedding. And she’s here to share her wonderful and memorable experience!

Balinese wedding

It was my last day in Bali. I’d been there photographing a wedding. Our driver was showing us around Ubud. It was gorgeous! At one point the exterior decoration of one particular house caught my eye. We asked the driver to stop, walked to the front of the house and politely asked the people standing there if it would be possible to enter to see what was happening inside.

Bali wedding

It was a dream (and just my luck) to find out that there was a wedding taking place inside! We were immediately greeted at the entrance by a few younger girls that were part of the family serving some coke, fanta and delicious homemade cakes. They asked if we could sign their guest book and we happily obliged. Walking into the rest of the house we could see a great bed of decorations and batik textiles ready to welcome the bride and the groom at the center of the house.

Inside people were eating, others listening to music, and others were playing Balinese music with flutes and xylophones. The bride and groom, along with their witnesses welcomed us, and even though it was difficult to communicate with them, it was easy to see that the atmosphere was relaxed and informal, pervaded by a genuine and heartfelt mysticism.

My last day in Ubud was perfect!

Amazing, right? Let’s just all cross our fingers that an amazing photographer will, by happenstance, stumble into your wedding and take gorgeous photos of it! Cinzia, thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us!

Ruby, can we just tell you that we’re a wee bit jealous that you’re marrying a real magician? Can you guys imagine just how much fun these two must have together? Ben here, is a member of the Magic Castle in Los Angeles and a lover and master of card tricks so it was a simple decision for Chris and Kristen Photography that this was going to be a romantic and whimsical e-sesh. Ruby + Ben’s adorableness would do the rest!

The first kiss Ruby gave to Ben was a strawberry flavored Hershey’s Kiss at their company’s new hire orientation. Ben and Ruby started working at their company around the same time and while working at two different departments in two different floors, their paths were crossed with a chocolately kiss. After dating for a year and half, Ben planned a surprised trip to Ruby’s favorite city, San Francisco. Ben took Ruby directly to Crissy Field, a park overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge (magical place on a sunny day). In the middle of the park surrounded by passersby walking their cute pups, Ben proposed to Ruby by playing the ukulele and singing Marry Me, by Train.

We are in love with Adam + Dave’s wedding. It may leave you day dreaming about saying ‘I do’ in a mansion along the coast though – which could be dangerous. The photos alone, shot by one of the talented members of The Wedding Collective, Josh Goleman, leave us in our tracks. But it’s the attention to detail that gets us. When a couple hits the mark on designing a beautiful invitation suite, uses the perfect typography to communicate where to dance, eat, and use the loo, and books an extraordinary venue to tie it all together (cue high fives), we get goosebumps.

Talk about a mansion! This place is incredible, right? Here’s Adam on why they chose The Crane Estate in Ipswich MA: It was a place my family visited often growing up.When Dave and I first started dating I took him. It wasn’t until much later we both admitted that it was on that day we both fell in love, unbeknownced to the other. Years later we went back, and it’s where we got engaged. Sitting at the end of the rolling green that day, staring at the ocean feeling as happy as we ever had is when we decided we wanted to get married there. So the location, while it hosts many weddings a year, will always be a very meaningful place to us. It was the perfect setting and we customized it in ways that made it very personal to us.

Adam on designing their gorgeous suite: Being a graphic designer, I felt a tremendous amount of pressure to design our invitations. I used Jakprints.com for printing the individual cards in lieu of traditional letterpress printing, printed the RSVP envelopes and mailing envelopes at home using my Epson printer, and assembled everything myself.

How Adam + Dave met: We met by chance in a bar one night, and felt an immediate connection. The connection evolved over the course of a 4 year courtship, until we both acknowledged that we were each interested in taking things to the next level. While we had very different life experiences, and shared very different points of views on things (Dave being practical and business oriented, Adam being a dreamer and creative), we found alignment morally. It became clear that our differences was what made our relationship so strong. While we are centered around a common set of core values, we each bring something completely different to the other’s life, and it continues to reveal new and interesting experiences together.

stamped escort cards

The RSVP’s and escort cards were my favorite DIY project. I am a bit obsessed with vintage ephemera, especially anything involving typography. Given that we had people coming from different locations, I began collecting post cards from each place. We used the postcards as our RSVP cards. Then designed stickers that I adhered to the back of the postcards for people to fill in their names and check off if they’d be attending. They then mailed these back to us as their RSVP cards. Once collected, I re-used them for their escort card. I stamped each one to correspond with the table numbers. Guests enjoyed seeing the different postcards, and seeing their own handiwork incorporated to the overall design of the event.
