Doesn’t this seersucker dress remind you of the one we featured earlier this week from this wedding? Very refreshing to see striped or polka dot wedding dresses options.

This inspiration would be perfect for any east coast beachside wedding. You can find the entire story in the latest issue of Southern Weddings, available on stands now, or for purchase here.

Who’s looking for gorgeous, modern invites for their wedding? Probably plenty of you! Don’t you want to have MaeMae Paperie design yours? We would. This week she’s got totally custom, super duper discounted invite suites, save-the-dates, and reception pieces, plus address kits, and monogram stamps in the Pop-Up Shop!

And if you haven’t been to her newly re-launched site to check out her recent custom work, you really should pop over. SOOOOO much cuteness over there.

A year before their wedding, Michele + Ryan purchased a home (a very cute one). To share all the hard work they’d put into it they decided to host, design, plan, and execute their own wedding. Here’s the smart part: They figured they should spend all the money they would have spent to throw a wedding elsewhere on things they could use well after the wedding and not just the day of. The bulk of the wedding cost went towards home improvements – paint, new doorknobs, light fixtures, furniture, a new deck, landscaping, and of course a few decorations. That’s not only sweet, but pretty genius, right?

On eBay, Michele’s dress was labeled as a “Vintage Mother of the Bride Dress” and was probably four sizes too big. That didn’t stop her from seeing that it was the dress. And, with a price tag of $76? Yes, please!

Farmer’s Markets are where it’s at for flowers. Michele and best friend, Kaye, walked away with a grocery cart filled to the brim with peonies, poppies and other colorful flowers for only $124! And, all those pretty plates, glasses and silverware? They were all collected from Goodwill and Value Village. The key to collecting such a mass amount is to start early! Like as soon as you’re engaged early. Then you can either keep them afterwards, or resell them!

These two obviously have a knack for hunting and buying such treasures, don’t they? Michele is an interior designer & stylist, so if you love all the unique pieces you see in their home, definitely check out what they’re hunting and selling at Reinspired Home.

Any advice for those planning now: TIME! Weddings take time, so much time. Don’t procrastinate. Get started right away and get help. No one can do this on their own. Also, just walk away. I’m the type of person that likes to be in charge of everything, but no one wants to deal with a crazy stressed out bride. If something is overwhelming you then take a break, get some air, or pass on the task to someone you trust. Everything seems like a big deal, but it really isn’t. The best moments from you wedding day are going to be the ones that aren’t planned. Enjoy them.

Thanks for the tips Michele! Congratulations!

Where: Santa Monica (1210 A Montana Ave) & Soho (454 West Broadway) Benefit Boutiques
Why: Why not!?

The first 35 peeps to RSVP to { rsvp @ benefitcosmetics . com } are on the guest list (please be sure to indicate which event you’ll be attending!), which means you’ll be treated to a brow wax and make-up sesh (and a chance to try out They’re Real Mascara), plus get to mingle with other awesome ladies in our community! Palm Springs, we love you. You’re always sunny, you’re glittered with retro glam, and you’re home to The Parker - a secret hideaway for any and all Jonathan Adler lovers alike. If you’re at all into the groovy stylings of Mr. Adler, then this could also be your dream venue. It’s the type of place you walk into, and think, “I need to get married here” (true words spoken by our bride). After Jessie + Jon fell in love with The Parker, a fun, modern with a touch of kitsch, wedding was born. Clearly a photographer who is just as fab and knows the venue like the back of her hand would do the trick. Enter, Sarah Yates!

To avoid spending lots of money on flowers at the alter, and make the ceremony area feel like an outdoor living room, Cortnie of Canvas and Canopy came up with the idea to hang vintage inspired lampshades behind the couple.

“When life gives you lemons make spiked Arnold Palmers” – yes!

The place card table was so perfectly Palm Springs. Framed photos of old Hollywood movie stars and singers that spent a lot of their time in PS sat pretty with a sign reading, “You’re invited to dine with the Stars of Hollywood’s Playground”.

Let’s talk about those napkins and those hands! Renting napkins can be expensive and limiting. Jessie decided to make her own. She ordered different prints, and got a seamstress to hem the edges and iron them. The modern graphics add just the right amount of pop to the tables, and the best part? She gets to keep them to reuse at her next party.

Now, those ceramic hands. This must be the “touch of kitsch” they were talking about. They’re actually jewelry stands from Urban Outfitters that were used to hold all the food labels. Aren’t they great?

To dine at these gorgeous tables! The metallic vases were from Ross, while most of the white vases were from Home Goods, but also thrift stores and Cortnie’s personal collection. The combo of eclectic vases + couture floral designs by JL Designs and Events is killing us.
