Dear ESB: Help me accessorize my amazing dress, sans diamonds

Categories   Wedding Fashion

Our lady East Side Bride takes on vintage jewelry shopping. Excellent break from the hum drum of Tuesday, don’t you think?

Do you have any recommendations for jewelry to complement the lace dress I’m wearing this summer? My dress is being custom made but is inspired by the Erato by Elie Saab (available from Pronovias), which I spotted on Once Wed.

I know she looks beautiful in those diamond earrings her husband gave her, but I am not planning on getting a gift like that and was wondering what you could recommend??

Need Some Jewels.

Vintage rhinestones are just as cool as vintage diamonds. COOLER EVEN.

I’m really digging these 1940’s rhinestone earrings I found on Ruby Lane. (They’re clip-ons, unfortunately, but a jeweler can convert them to post-backs for you with relative ease.)

Buy them before they’re gone, or while away the hours searching Ruby Lane, eBay and/or Etsy for “vintage drop earrings,” “vintage rhinestone drop earrings,” “chandelier earrings,” etc.

(Editor’s note: Don’t forget to check out flea markets, antique malls, and local vintage stores too! They often have beautiful jewels and as a bonus, you can try them on.)

I'm totally digging the idea of vintage rhinestones. You could even ask your mom or grandmothers if they have anything you could borrow - what a sweet, playing-dress-up vibe for your wedding day

If you have any old jewelry lying around, gold, silver, precious, semi-precious stones, you could have them reworked into a combination vintage/new set of earrings.

I would LOVE to see the front of that dress. I need to create something, like a bolero or wrap to cover my shoulders for the church ceremony... and I'm loving that look!

Totes agree: I dig on the vintage rhinestones. My suggestion: go to goodwill and any TINY little podunk antique shops around you and you'll find something. Something affordable too.

Her bridal gown looks glamorous and very elegant.Love the lace designs, the style and cut of the dress is simply gorgeous. I love the earrings too. A perfect match for the bridal gown.

That dress is truly divine! I have never seen anything quite like it, and think the vintage rhinestone earrings are a perfect match. Diamonds are overrated except when it comes to the ring!

From the gown jewelry to the guest management gets hard and impossible at times. It is wonderful when event management groups makes the event entertaining for the hosts also.
