Vintage fairytale wedding: Courtney + Bill

November 13, 2015
Bridesmaids portrait

So this fairytale wedding? C + B envisioned a rustic and elegant day that still felt relaxed and whimsical, but they didn’t plan the princess theme at first. That came when Courtney found her dress—but more on that later. They did plan for an outdoor ceremony + indoor reception, and Highlands Ranch Mansion definitely delivered. It’s decked out with chandeliers, vintage furniture, and exposed brick that all lends itself ever so well to the soft color palette that they were both into for their wedding.

Thanks to Sarah Joelle Photography for sharing the photos!

Courtney tells it, The dress and accessories I wore were a unique element to our wedding because of what they symbolized. I wanted an entirely different style originally, but when I tried on my Allure ball gown I began to cry because I felt like the Disney princesses I idolized as a little girl. I was so drawn to the gown because Bill’s love and support make me feel like all my dreams could come true, even my silly childhood dreams of one day being a ballerina princess bride. The dress seemed to highlight the cheery, innocent aspects of me and I couldn’t wait to share those parts of myself with Bill. To complement the gown I chose pale pink ballerina slippers, which were equally meaningful because it wasn’t until I met Bill that I began taking ballet lessons, though I had wanted to since I was a little girl. He helped me gain the confidence and the courage to get involved with ballet in the first place, and we even choreographed our first dance so that I could show off a few of my ballet moves!

Courtney created everything from the cake stands to the vases to the table numbers herself to give everything a homemade feel, including these little floral buntings for the bundt cakes.

Parting words… My advice to other brides would be to be present on your wedding day and enjoy each and every little moment, planned or otherwise, because your wedding will be over before you know it! If you stay focused on your partner and feed off of their joy throughout your day then you will most likely realize that most of the things you stressed over didn’t really matter.

Congrats Courtney + Bill!
