Black and mauve wedding inspiration at Slate Event Space in St Louis

With all the light, bright wedding ideas we’ve shared as of late (this candy-inspired editorial and fuchsia bridal inspiration come to mind), it’s a bit unexpected to see black as a wedding color. But when paired with bright pinks and mauve—hues inspired by Silvia of Snapdragon Studio‘s floral designs—Saving Grace Occasions and the crew below prove that darker tones can make springy details stand out even more. The team at Saving Grace Occasions explains, Our Calligrapher Alicia of Saving Grace Occasions created a beautiful acrylic invitation and laid Silvia’s loose florals behind it to take detail shots that were absolutely stunning and allowed the font to pop. To match, she created a wardrobe piece for our bride that was an additional modern aspect in the shoot.

The greenery paired with pink vintage glassware, gold-rimmed china and gold flatware and gray linen napkins added just the right touch of color without taking away from the soft, romantic vision we had for the shoot. In the background we installed a black double door backdrop. Florals in nudes, pinks, greenery and pops of purple foliage draped over the top and gave our shoot the depth it needed to be truly elegant. It was important that the table served as a background that would allow the lighter floral runner to pop, so we chose a black table and chairs with gold trim to both tie it all together and supply us with a strong contrast.
