We’ve got one last engagement shoot of the year for ya on this final day of fall, thanks to the talented Juliana Aragon, who shot that stylish Joshua Tree e-sesh we shared a few months back. Our bride-to-be Sarah also filled us in on their love story, proposal, and plans for the big day next fall! Take a peek:
Mitch and I met in late January 2016. He’d seen a photo of me with a mutual friend and decided he wanted to meet me. As Executive Chef of a restaurant in our hometown, he didn’t have many nights off, so he and our friend arranged for me to come into the restaurant with her. Unbeknownst to me, our “girls’ dinner” was actually a setup so I could meet him. The restaurant had an open kitchen concept, so Mitch and I were able to chat while he worked, and we ended up really hitting it off. It took over a month for both of us to have a Saturday night off together, but we were finally able to coordinate. Mitch planned a fun date in Sacramento where we wandered around Old Sac, sampled sour beers during Sac Beer Week, and listened and danced to live music at an old bar called The Torch Club. It was the last first date either of us ever went on!

Sacramento-based Thistle & Honey whipped up the fall foliage bouquet for them to bring to Glenbrook, Nevada, where they often go to escape the city and enjoy the pretty surroundings.
On the engagement: For my 30th birthday, Mitch and I planned a getaway to Seattle, WA. I had never been but always wanted to go. We arrived early Friday morning on April 21, 2017. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the condo we rented had a giant rooftop patio overlooking Elliott Bay. He was leading me to the rooftop when he suddenly whipped around in front of me, blurted something out about not being able to hold onto “it” anymore, and dropped down on one knee. Before I knew it, he was flipping open a little navy blue box, revealing a beautiful diamond, and asking me to marry him. It was so unexpected and I was in so much shock that I think I stuttered and stammered “Oh my gosh” at least twenty times before he finally had to ask me if that meant, “yes”! It did, of course.
All Sarah knew when they got engaged was that she wanted to say I Do to Mitch in a fall wedding at a rustic barn wedding with elegant, romantic décor. Totally up our alley, right? They’re making it all happen next September in California.
There will be elegant draping from the rafters to the floor, burgundy and blush pink florals, an overabundance of votives adorning every table, and soft lighting hanging from above. We’re having three different food trucks for dinner, and a live auction where we will be auctioning off items for our honeymoon like our first cocktails and dinner, and of course music and lots of dancing. As excited as we are to get married, we really want our focus to be on the reception. We both love food, music and dancing and we want all of our guests to have fun and enjoy the evening!
