Romantic French-inspired floral wedding in Ontario

Floral garden tented wedding

Erin + David’s French-inspired garden wedding is so perfect for those of you missing sunny summer days. And their story is really, really beautiful, as you’ll see below. In the end, they managed to create a gorgeous day with out-of-this-world florals (thanks, Patchouli Design!) and personal tributes to both their new little bebe and Erin’s late father. Not to mention, these two were together for 13 years before they tied the knot! So sweet. Thanks to Christine Lim and Lustre Events for sharing!

Erin says, I always envisioned a lush outdoor wedding full of blooms and greenery, so the romantic garden setting was a no-brainer. Then when Dave was shopping for an engagement ring he wanted something that was delicate and feminine because that’s how he’d describe me. I loved that! So we thought our wedding day should have a similar feel. Touches of cheekiness were thrown in to add some fun, unique bits like a barista service and donut stand (for my love of Starbucks and Dave’s love of donuts). (You will LOVE the Pinterest board Erin + Lustre Events whipped up.)

E + D had a year and a half long engagement, and just days after she found the perfect dress, she discovered some big news: they would be expecting a baby about five months before the wedding! Naturally a huge part of the wedding became about celebrating them as a new fam of 3.

Erin’s bouquet featured cafe au lait dahlias, baby blue eucalyptus, ranunculus, blushing bride protea, Juliet garden rose, and waxflower. Instead of that mega dahlia, her ‘maids had their own king protea as the focal point of their bouquets. Love. Them. All!

And in case you want to write down this ahhmazing color palette, it’s peach, coral, blush, champagne, ivory, antique blue with natural wood and greenery/foliage accents.

Baby Dawson walked down with Dave and Erin carried a locket for her Dad in her bouquet.

Would you believe that Miller Lash House is located in the city?! It kept its lush feel because it’s actually nestled in a valley surrounded by mature trees and a rushing stream.

And the reception took place in a gorgeous tent that they could keep open and airy.

Talk about a cute signature drink! They made sure to include a signature drink for Dawson (a milkshake, of course) as well as Erin’s dad, who loved Coca Cola, as Erin explains below…

One giant hurdle was the unexpected death of my father in May 2017. For a month or so after his death I felt like we needed to postpone. I wanted my wedding to be a happy day, but all I could feel at the time was immense sadness and devastation. After a lot of chats with Dave and my family, we agreed that my dad wouldn’t want us to postpone the wedding. His greatest wish was for us to be happy, so we decided to keep planning. Our wedding date was August 11, 2017 and my parents’ was August 11, 1978, so the actual date was really significant to me. There were definitely sad moments over the course of the wedding day, but it was still a happy day—it was a day to celebrate love and life. It felt like we were celebrating with my dad and I really think he would have been proud. We incorporated a few details into the wedding to acknowledge and honour my dad—the locket on my bouquet that held a picture of him and I, my younger brother gave a toast to my dad during dinner with Coca-Cola (his beverage of choice), a donation in memory of my dad in lieu of favours.

Such a thoughtful day. Big thanks to Erin for sharing her story, and congratulations to you + Dave!
