Italian inspired vow renewal

Morning, friends! We could all use a little more Italian romance in our Fridays, don’t you think? This anniversary shoot looks straight from Europe, despite being captured by Kristin La Voie at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee. (Who doesn’t love finding gems like this here in the US?) She teamed up with Kristina of Vision Of Elegance to make Lidia + Ruben feel like they jetted straight to Italy as they re-proclaimed their love for one another.

From the team: We wanted to really focus on the Italian theme throughout the shoot, from the super romantic feeling of the venue of Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, the focus of love and family seen through homemade cannolis, fresh limoncello, bocce ball (a family favorite!), good wine, olive oil favors, meats and cheeses and breads oh my!, the soft color palette of greens, whites, and natural yellow elements from the fall season, and lots of laughter and kisses!

Isn’t this Anna Campbell gown to die for?

Lidia says, Ruben and I got married very young and we grew a lot in the past 6 years. When we look back on our wedding photos, we can’t help but laugh at how different we were. Years flew by and we never got around to taking updated professional photos, just the awkward selfie here and there to remember dates and places. I’ve been following Kristin La Voie‘s beautiful work for a while so when our 6th anniversary came around I knew I wanted her to document this new phase.

Ruben is pretty camera shy, but Kristin made us feel so incredibly comfortable and we felt like we could be ourselves and she captured the best version of us. For our 5th anniversary we went to Italy and we absolutely fell in love with the country and the culture. It was like a dream come true to have a sort of re-do of our wedding in the gorgeous Villa Terrace, surrounded by all the Italian inspired decor and food. There was a point where Kristin let us have a moment to ourselves and I just looked into Ruben’s eyes and I felt like we fell in love all over again, except now there’s a deep respect and trust we have for each other that we developed over the years. We’re so happy we took the time to celebrate our marriage and have it documented in such a beautiful way that we can look back on it 5 more years from now and see how much more growth and love we have for each other.
