Palm Springs wedding at Colony 29: Maura + Kenneth
Jenn Emerling always sends the raddest couples our way. When Maura of Edith Coco + Heat Waves, and Kenneth of Huge were planning their Palm Springs wedding, they had just gotten back from a romantic getaway in Spain and Italy. In lieu of having their families with them, they wanted to recreate the experience here in California. Not a bad plan, right? They said I Do at Our Lady of Solitude and headed over to Colony 29 to celebrate—both venues gave off those romantic whisk-you-away vibes M + K were going for.
The DIY list: flowers, invitations, menus, place cards, programs (M is a graphic designer, if you can’t tell!) and Peruvian desserts from the groom’s family.
Maura’s dress story… I wanted to choose a dress when my mom and sister were here in California so I chose something I wasn’t in love with. I had it altered and altered until it fit perfectly but the Monday before the wedding I decided I really hated it. When I picked my sister up from the airport I said, “we are getting me a new dress!” The dress I really wanted was always from Stone Cold Fox but I thought maybe it was too cheap and not dressy enough for a wedding. In the end I had three dresses to choose from when I was getting ready that day and I am obsessed with the result—short sleeves and three tiers of cut out chorded lace that are sewn in curves around the scallop.
Maura, her friends, and her five aunts whipped up the flowers using Maura’s company, Edith Coco, which is a DIY flower delivery service in Los Angeles. Her bouquet recipe: Dutch ranunculus, garden roses, kumquats, basil, eucalyptus, amaryllis, pieris japonica, sword fern, larkspur, sunset.
M + K had 130 guests and planned for about a year. See their design inspiration on Pinterest!
Wishing we weren’t too late to snag this jumpsuit from ASOS!
