A quick warning: there’s basically no way you can see J + R’s woodland wedding + read all the bride’s sweet words without walking into the weekend happy. Not only did a close friend officiate, but Rachel’s best gal, photographer Paige Jones (vendor profile) documented the whole day for them. Rachel says, When you are revisiting that significant day through photos, there is no greater gift than to be engulfed with all of those same incredible feelings you felt on one of the best days of your life – Paige’s photos do that. They DIYed everything from the invites to the signage and more, knowing that the best way to make their wedding truly “them” was to simply do it themselves. Luckily, these two are pretty crafty!
Rachel tells it, On the day of the ceremony, we were lucky enough to have a lot of our friends and family there, happily lending helping hands during set up. I grabbed a bunch of my gals and we set up the florals and dinner tables, while Jeff and his buddies foraged for more greenery for the dinner tables, stocked the booze and set up our ceremony.

Rachel’s notes on the venue, Jeff’s parent’s home…
There have been a lot of memories created here by him and his family, and of us together, traveling back every year for holidays. It is one of the places that means the most to us and we have always wanted to share that with the rest of our friends and my family who have heard so much about it, so it couldn’t have been more fitting. Not only is their home beautiful, with plenty land to hold 150 people, it is surrounded by a gorgeous forest of tall trees that allowed for not only a little bit of privacy, but a very pretty setting. I feel so honored to be able to have married the man I love in a place of such meaning. It was a dream.
J + R decided not to hire a wedding planner, but are super grateful for the help of Jeff’s mom throughout the whole process. Rachel says her #1 tip to couples planning is: Let people help. I am such a do-it-myself kind of person. I will take on more than I can handle just to make sure things go the way I had planned, so I get it when a bride goes into planning her wedding with the idea of doing it all herself. But, when it comes to planning something this big, the help is so useful. It makes the process so much easier, it makes your family/friends feel more involved, and it is really fun creating/planning with family and friends.
Umm, how amaze is this crochet dress from Hannah Baird for Bonadrag?! It’s got long sleeves, a low back, a subtle train, and was confortable, too.
