English countryside wedding: Nikki + Graeme
Now that spring is so close, we can’t wait for all the vibrant outdoor weddings to come. Like this beauty in the Somerset countryside of England. So, Nikki & Graeme are British, lived in New York for the past several years (they’re devoted Brooklynites!), and just two weeks before their wedding, moved to Amsterdam. Teaming up with Mary Herrington at Forever & Ever Events to plan their UK celebration was pretty crucial. Coming up with a way to marry Nikki’s Indian heritage, their English roots, and bits of their US life – not so easy. But it was done. They had a New Orleans-style jazz band, Indian-style lounge furniture and a menu of food that reflected their lives together (NY-style sliders, chicken tikka, British lamb).
Nikki’s bridal bouquet recipe: coral garden roses with cream astibile, super bombastic roses, freshia, dusty miller and thistles.
Nikki walked down the aisle to Nick Cave’s, ‘Into My Arms’. And their first dance song was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, ‘Home’ – the lyrics are also engraved on the inside of their rings.
Their table names commemorated meaningful spots to them around the world.
Congratulations Nikki + Graeme!

This is a truely lovely event. I was admiring everything when I noticed the picture of City Hall explaining that the couple was already married in 2011! I'm going to be in the same situation (marrying soon at a courthouse, celebration later). How did the couple go about explaining to their invitees that this wasn't their first act of marriage? Did they do a vow renewal? I feel that this is particularly important to PSAs that are flying overseas to attend and would love your take on it.

Hello Stephen Elliot. I just got a letter dated 1/19/12 from Lorelie Lee in an envelope from you. We have no idea whatsoever how I got on your list. But I'll write Lorelie back (a real letter, even), because it was pretty fucking brave of her to write that.
