1920s flapper wedding: Christina + Kyle

August 27, 2012
custom made feather fans

The 1920s speakeasy culture is always one of our faves to see recreated. Feathers, rhinestones, gold accents, rich colors, drinks flowing… it’s glamorous. What’s not to love about having your closest friends and family dress in the free spirit fashion of flappers with custom made feather fans to keep cool. Christina is not only a dear friend, she’s a modern day flapper with killer style! And one of our favorite bits about her wedding – she found her photographer & videographer by bidding for them in our vendor section!

Christina + Kyle run a rad design studio, Thompson & Partners, so obviously they were excited to design all their printed goods.

Centerpieces were a combination of vintage medicine bottles collected over the years and wine/champagne bottles spray painted with matte gold and glitter, filled with various purple and white flowers.

Great tip from Christina: Ask your bridesmaids to remind you throughout the planning process and wedding day that everything is perfect even if it doesn’t look exactly how you imagined it would be. The things that go differently than planned often make the most memorable stories.

raspberry-topped wedding cake and 20s cake topper first dance

Our good friend Holly Mirkheshti flew in from Atlanta to sing jazz standards during the reception. Our first dance was “Cheek to Cheek” by Fred Astaire, choreographed by our dear friend Daniel Ponickly inspired by the 1920’s dance style “The Peabody”.

And now for their featurette with a little cinema inspiration from “The Artist.”
