Intimate City Hall wedding inspiration

diamond-shaped wedding invitation

Jenna Smith of Revel Events, who coordinated this adorable creative shoot, says: “In putting together this photo shoot, we focused on the needs of a couple who want a lovely, intimate wedding without the big price tag. We imagined a bride and groom getting married at City Hall and then sharing a quaint lunch at home with their nearest and dearest. The decor is full of handmade details, lovingly crafted by Natalie Bjordal, that are inexpensive and fairly easy for a savvy couple to create for themselves.”

“We felt that, even as some of the elements of our shoot were not “budget” items—such as the gorgeous Jenny Yoo “Romy” dress that Frocks was generous enough to lend—they would all be re-creatable by a couple looking to save money while retaining the romance and charm of this vignette.”

Beautiful inspiration! City hall weddings are so romantic - something about how intimate they are, I think.

Absolutely stunning. I just love every aspect of this wedding.

This is not practical at all given that you can't actually get married at City Hall in Vancouver which is where the shoot took place and where the event planner is located. Therefore nothing about this shoot is practical so it makes me really think twice about the planner and purpose of this inspiration shoot. If this was done for another city then awesome, but the current city it is located does NOT allow you to be married there and this is not replicable here.

Jenna, Revel Events on Aug 15, 2012

Hi Edita, Thanks for clarifying the fact that you can't get married inside City Hall in Vancouver. Styled photo shoots often blend the practical with the whimsical, and Vancouver's City Hall is so gorgeous that we felt it would be a beautiful spot for photos, and would resonate with couples living in the many cities where you can get married at City Hall.

This is such an adorable shoot! Great color combos and creative theme! I would like to comment on the fact that most styled shoots are simply meant to inspire couple to think outside the box with their wedding ideas. I have seen fancy shoes and earrings placed on the head table for a creative shoot...but would you do that in real life? Probably not. To all the vendors involved in this shoot I say "Kudos!" on the creativity this shoot had!

Everything turned out beautifully! Thanks to everyone who contributed to create a fantastic shoot.

Edita, I was very surprised by your negative comment about this planner and shoot, quite rude. As Jenna and Briar have mentioned, the specifics of a styled shoot are not meant to be replicated but rather to inspire - those inspired by this shoot could be married at City Hall by hiring an officiant to marry the two of you on the steps, or if you wanted guests, you could do a city hall style wedding at the Vancouver Art Gallerys heritage courthouse, among other places. I llike to think of styled shoots as similar to couture fashion shows - you wouldn't necessarily wear those garments on the street but you would be inspired by the creative shapes, textures, colours and so on. Its a gorgeous shoot and I find it shocking you would lash out at someone offering their creativity for all to enjoy. Pretty awful.
