Modern wedding inspiration at Nashville Craft

Fun fact: The concept for this artsy wedding editorial came to Aimee Siegel one day while perusing the colored acrylic boxes at The Container Store. She just knew the geometric shapes + color scheme had to find their way into an event. (As you’ll see below, it was quite the muse.) Nashville Craft ended up being the perfect place for Lotus Blossom Photography to capture Aimee’s vision.

Aimee explains, I am an artist, designer and stylist living in an inspiring, rapidly growing area of the city of Nashville called Wedgwood Houston. Really, it is my neighborhood itself that was the first point of inspiration for this concept shoot, as it is an area full of working artists, art galleries and some stunning, eye-catching buildings like Nashville Craft Distillery, newly opened this year and making some amazing, unique craft spirits. The building was designed by architect, Manuel Zeitlin, whose offices and art gallery, Zeitgeist, are located directly across the parking lot from the distillery. Together with Amber Vongsamphanh of Lotus Blossom Photography, who has the most amazing creative eye for beautiful, bright images, we created a styled bridal shoot that was an intimate reception at the distillery.

A lot of floral designers I know tend to lean toward clean, one flower bunches or single stems in their homes and personal lives. Since, I don’t see a lot of that portrayed as an option for brides, I wanted showcase some small bundles of inexpensive flowers like mums and carnations, that can make such a fun, clean, modern and bright statement. We wanted that to be a focus of this shoot: budget-friendly, but gorgeously unique and creative ways to make focal points of florals and design for weddings. A single, gloriously sculptural, red ranunculus in a colorful container can go a long, long way!

Oh, and no surprise, the baker behind these cakes is also a fine artist! Great work, Jess Brown!
