Thea explains, For our Spring Collection I wanted to explore how art intersects with modern techniques and motifs. In the beginning I spent a lot of time teaching myself how to marbleize the organza fabrics in my studio. I have always loved how marble is both old and artistic, yet has such clean lines. It was a perfect compilation of all the things I am interested in right now. Using the marbling technique on our flowers allowed us to create soft pieces that had both depth and detail while still feeling fresh. I am so happy with how it all came together.
The new collection includes two new custom beaded veils that were both made by hand with embroidery designs that they hand drew—so they’re all completely unique to Hushed Commotion and give brides that dreamy mixture of timeless romance and a touch of modern.
Mesmerized by the Aviva star earrings too…
And this headpiece above is still the Blake, with another way of styling, this time from the front. So pretty!
Aren’t the Lola laser cut earrings incredible?! Here’s the scoop: The second part of this season was exploring a new technology: laser cutting. We teamed up with a local company to create a custom line of earrings that are all made from designs I drew and then we had them laser cut in different shades of white and mother-of-pearl. Each earring is assembled by hand in the studio. Additionally, many of the pieces are made with custom etching details which we then hand painted to create a delicate gold motif on the earring. It’s so beautiful and modern! Plus, they are super light!
