Vintage brunch Metropolitan Building wedding: Alexandra + Enrique

September 29, 2015

Did you see this morning’s bridal shower brunch? There miiiight be a bit of a theme in our posts today, because A + E’s wedding was a brunch affair, which besides the obvious goodness that comes with brunch, (can you say mini pancake skewers?!), represented their love of the unexpected. Chris + Allie of The Reason captured all the pretty (and mega delish) details.

Stunning.

Alexandra tells it, The Metropolitan Building is very charming because it has a vintage feel; things are a bit imperfect which just felt very natural to us. Since it’s a raw space we loved that we could bring our own rentals to enhance it and create the environment we wanted. We also loved that the team is very flexible so we moved a lot of things around, used their vintage chairs, couches, tables and other details, which saved a significant amount in our budget. (Their budget was 40k and guest list 75.)

I wanted to focus on the details so we put our families, friends, and planner to work! The escort cards were done by Twinkle & Toast, but Nicole from All Who Wander hung them ALL up with the help of the best man. My uncle worked on creating wood boards for the food and we all got our hands dirty, from the groom to the bridesmaids. I wanted to have beautiful confetti so I designed the bags that were given out to guests. I also designed the menus, programs and signs for the photo area and souvenirs. The welcome sign I also designed and Nicole printed and placed on the chalkboard.

They had a menu by Fancy Girl Table filled with American breakfast staples + dishes inspired by her Dominican roots + his Colombian influences. Yum, yum, yum.

Fave moments…

A: Our vows. I’m a very private person and don’t really share my deep feelings with many people. It was very significant for me to express my vows to Enrique, in my native language (Spanish) as a way to honor where I come from and to have both our families be able to completely understand how I feel about my now husband. On the other hand, it was very emotional to hear Enrique and in that moment, come to the realization of how having family and friends witnessing our vows to each other was what made our wedding incredibly memorable.

E: Seeing our vision come to life. Often times, the idea that’s drawn up gets changed for one reason or another along the way. But I remember walking in the morning of the wedding and thinking ‘Whoa, this looks like it got pulled straight out of my head!’
