Real Wedding: Brittany + Paul

October 6, 2010

Erica from Thoughtful Day sent us a link to this sweet couple on their wedding day. The big flowers are so excellent, aren’t they?

Brittany wanted to bring some of the magical imagery from Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen (where they had their first date) and the fantasy of Hans Christian Andersen fairytales into their wedding decor, i.e. big, quirky signs and magnificent, oversized florals (because Brittany LOVES all things floral).

The flowers are completely amazing.

Brittany is wearing her mom’s dress. So cute!

To create the 20 huge banners, Brittany sent blank canvas to a bunch of friends and family and had them paint the banners instead! She gave them some Scandinavian garden inspiration and a color palette and waited for the finished pieces to be mailed back. Such a fun idea!

Brittany also spent an inordinate amount of time creating her invites. Obviously they had to follow the flower theme, and she loves letterpress so wanted to include that. But because she wanted to use so many colors, her print man from Rowley Letterpress, found a gilcee printer for the illustration and then used letterpress for the type. Perfect!

Make sure you check out the full explanation of the process and more pretty photos on the Rowley blog.

Ahh. The big flowers. They are the bestest things we’ve seen in a while. Brittany and her mom actually made all of them by hand, inspired by a project she did at the Danish Embassy last year. 20 for the tables and one very special one to serve as Brittany’s bouquet. Her mom made that one out of watercolor paper and hand watercolored it with peaches and pinks.

And also the tiny flowers! Aren’t they lurrvelly?

Frickin’ GORGEOUS and so thoughtful and detailed. You guys did an amazing job. We’re so so happy we were able to share your pretty day!
