Intimate winter chateau wedding in France
After being long distance for two and a half years, Natalja + Raffael were all about seeing the world together. They traveled to California, the Seychelles, Iceland, Croatia, the Azores, Morocco, back home to Switzerland, and even more incredible destinations thereafter. Then, after a month hiking in Argentina, Raffael proposed, and six months later, they were saying I Do in France. (The biggest adventure of all, right?) After all their time exploring, an intimate winter wedding of just 38 guests was exactly what they wanted—see how it all turned out in Ingrid Lepan’s photos below!
They chose green + white as their wedding colors because it represents their personal style: the parties and gatherings that they host at home usually have a slightly boho-meets-kinfolk aesthetic that’s natural and organic.
With the help of the team at Despinoy Wedding & Event, they scheduled tours for four small castles in France. Château Montplaisant was the first place they saw, and they were sold. Guests even got to stay on site all weekend long.
Natalja + Raffael say, We are a couple from Switzerland and wanted to have a wonderful wedding weekend with our closest friends. When we found Chateau de Montplaisant in France, we knew that this was the place. All of our 38 guests could stay at the castle and we had two wonderful nights there… Our wedding day was rainy, which added to the intimate and moody feel of the day, we felt so close to everyone being inside in the bibliotheque (library) for our ceremony. We couldn’t imagine our day any better. Our officiant was a very close friend who wrote the most beautiful ceremony we could have ever imagined. To have everyone in this small room made the whole ceremony very, very intimate and we feel so lucky to have friends and family who supported us so much during the wedding.
Don’t you love how Ingrid Lepan captured their day? N + R wanted a photog who could tell a story with her images. Mission accomplished, big time!
Natalja tells it, When thinking of our wedding beforehand, I couldn’t wait for everyone to sit at our long table in the dining room. To have all of our best friends and family at one long table was the thing I looked forward to most, and it didn’t disappoint!
Married at a French chateau… Le sigh. Cheers to the happy couple!
