Let’s start out with planning tips via Veronica, because once you look at these images by Tim Willoughby, you’ll want to take all of her advice: 1) Personalized touches add up and take time to put together—choose a few that are important, 2) Invest in good logistics (buses or cars, the flow of the night’s events, maps and directions…), 3) Things add up: A DIY bar if your venue will allow it can introduce high-end liquor at a lower price. They did their own Bourbon tasting bar and everyone loved it.

Now, time to see why these two clearly know what they’re talking about…

Veronica wore Marchesa ‘Poppy’, a French net embroidered gown with pearls and silk covered buttons, + found her cute bridesmaids dresses on Shopbop.com, where she actually manages international business development + marketing. A lovely bouquet by planner A Charleston Bride to complete the ensemble.

They chose Kiawah because John’s parents had a house on Kiawah Island, which is where they took family trips and Veronica got to know his parents and sisters.

Veronica says, We wanted the wedding to be simple, elegant and a bit playful. We chose white as our dominant color with a bright cornflower blue as an accent ribboning its way through the design and gold and wood touches. Kiawah famously has alligators in its lakes and ponds so we choose miniature alligators to hold our place cards and #dangeralligators as our hashtag.

A film by Life in Rewind:

Parting words, c/o our bride: The most important thing to remember is to remember why you are there. You are there because you are starting a family with the person you love and in so doing are asking two disparate groups of people to be in your family as well. Use the wedding as a positive event to bring people together.

Absolutely true. Cheers!
