DIY woodsy wedding

Did you catch this morning’s DIY barn wedding? Now we’ve got another crafty couple, graphic designer Michelle + Joseph who is a photographer and graphic designer too. They celebrated at J’s family property in Tennessee with the photogs at The Image Is Found—who, get this, they found via a recommendation by a Nashville photog they met in an Uber pool in San Francisco. We’re suckers for those serendipitous moments leading up to the big day. More stories + photos in the post!

Cute! Their ceremony song was Leland’s Waltz, an old southern fiddle tune, and they danced their first dance to Close My Eyes by Arthur Russell.

Aren’t these colors so unexpected? Michelle’s bouquet recipe via The Enchanted Florist: olive branches, gunnii eucalyptus, silver dollar eucalyptus, artichokes, yellow yarrow, bright blue delphinium, blue thistle, hot pink celosia, orange feather celosia

For the ceremony, Michelle Joseph, + his parents and his parents chopped the wood straight from the surrounding forest and built it together the week before. They then decorated it, along with Michelle’s sisters, with linens and lanterns.

Michelle says, More than 150 years of Joseph’s family history was on a beautiful piece of land deep in the country wilderness. We wanted to celebrate with family in friends in a place that was meaningful to us, and where we would be free to party all night without any restrictions. At the end of a serene, windless ceremony, we were walking back down the aisle, everyone was cheering and the wind picked up suddenly, swirling leaves and butterflies all around us. It was like magic. Also, we let our dog run wild all day and she took the cue and walked just a few feet in front of us as we walked away from the ceremony. Super cute that she led the recession!
