Colorful Fig House LA wedding: Brittany + Steve

Colorful Fig House LA wedding

One thing we love about The Fig House is that it’s already decked out in a way that basically screams for couples to make it their own. If you fell in love with it, chances are you have some ideas for making everything pop. Brittany + Steve have distinct styles and loved the jewel tones and textures, but didn’t want anything too trendy or over-styled to look back on. Think timeless, classic, and a little Gatsby. Fig House helped create just the blend, Lace & Likes executed, and Mary of Floataway Studios documented it in an equally timeless way.

Brittany says, As a TV Producer on design driven shows, Steve had opinions on things that I never expected. But it was fun because we really planned together. From the layout of the reception tables to the color of the bridesmaids dresses to every bite of food served and the colors of the napkins, we discussed and decided together… Neither of us ever have trouble making decisions, so planning felt really natural. I downloaded a planning timeline from The Knot and stuck to it pretty well. Not decorating the venue was a big relief. I’m so happy that we chose a place that was so gorgeous and interesting that we didn’t need to go nuts with the projects.

Steve is vegan so not only did they have a vegan menu by Room Forty that everyone loved, it was important to make sure his attire was animal-free too. They found an all-cotton suit from J. Crew, a tie from Nordstrom, and vegan dress shoes. Score!

Their budget was 50k, timeline was 6 months, and guest list was 150. There were some DIY projects too, like the colorful napkins Brittany’s mom made.

Parting words, on the dress… Lots of brides talk about that ‘ah-ha’ moment. That never came for me. I knew I didn’t want to wear a white dress, but had so much trouble narrowing it down. I thought maybe a bright color, but I couldn’t find any that I liked. I went to maybe two dozen stores over three months, some to just get ideas (like Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta). I ended up buying my dress at Neiman Marcus because it was on sale and the sales woman told me to take advantage of the markdown while it lasted and that I could return it 6 months later if I wanted. It fit perfect and I loved the glamor of it, but I considered it a backup for a long time. I think I slowly fell in love with it over the months. Now, I wonder what took me so long. It was the best.

Sure was! Congrats guys!
