Northern California camp wedding

The fact that David + Divah coordinated a parade for their wedding already says something about them (fun couple alert!) but knowing that they took on the task of planning a California wedding from the east coast in order to experience planning together, shows just how great they really are. They chose a redwood grove in the forest at Camp Navarro so that they could be outside with 100 guests in an ethereal and magical setting. Thanks to Tyler Branch’s for the photos!

When we asked about their wedding style… A weekend wedding in the woods with a parade! We met on an outdoor trip to Costa Rica and have been pursuing one adventure after another together ever since. We wanted to bring all of our important people to one place for an epic adventure. To be sure, we put thought into how we would like the day to look but above all we wanted the people who trekked out for us to feel loved and special so we put a lot of energy toward anticipating needs of our friends and family.

Too sweet. Their aisle song was the instrumental version of Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine + the first dance was to La Vie En Rose.

Pretty much everything about the big day was DIY: The cake, save the dates, invitations, place settings, flowers, music playlists, sangria, wooden signs for food menu, wooden sign for bridal party, lounge area at dance party, lounge area-love tipi at reception. (Yeah, that does say lounge area-love tipi. Rad.)

Parting words from D + D, We planned the wedding in two major chunks. Within a few months of being engaged we had the venue and photographer squared away. Then we went about our normal lives and spent three crazy months before the wedding figuring out all the other details. Our recommendation for anybody brave enough to plan and coordinate your wedding would be twofold: first hire a day of coordinator (seriously do it) and second do not underestimate how many details you have to consider, including details you find silly like the color of the tablecloths and who sits in the front row of the ceremony. It took our family a while to come around to the idea that we wanted a low-key weekend with all of our important people around, not a huge spectacle.

Congrats Divah and David. Wishing you the best!
