Don’t you hate it when couples make destination weddings look so easy? Just makes us want to get married all over again. If Liza + Paul can do it, planning it all the way from Sydney, Australia, than we’re pretty sure anyone can do it. You’ll need to enlist some help though. Their’s really couldn’t have been done without the amazing help of Signature Event Consulting & Design and the gorgeous photography of The Cana Family. There wedding was the perfect union between a Mexican fiesta and a Slim Aarons poolside photograph. Extremely romantic with lots of heart and soul, beautiful surroundings, lots of texture, flowers, asymmetry and some quirkiness thrown in and all with an air of ease.

Painting your ring finger a different color than the others? Someone needs to steal that idea. Too cute!

They walked down the aisle to a Spanish solo guitarist playing The Beatles ‘Here Comes the Sun’. After the ceremony a Mariachi band kicked in as a surprise from behind the guests and played as they celebrated down the aisle. Their first dance song was Neil Young’s ‘Harvest Moon’ mashed with The Drums, ‘Forever’.

Being on the other side of the world we needed help with the language and the logistics of organising table setting, decor, flowers, lighting, catering, location, ceremony bits and pieces and welcome bags. Sarai and Martha were my right hand women. I sent Sarai a detailed moodboard and a list of all the design elements i wanted to include and she was fantastic in finding those from local vendors in San Jose Del Cabo. We also collaborated and Sarai suggested alternatives when things weren’t available. I sent her detailed ideas on how i wanted the design of the wedding cake, the flowers, details for the table and decor, favors for guests, ceremony set-up, lighting, music, food and the items for the welcome bags. The week prior I made mini pom poms to use as confetti for the ceremony and also picked silk flowers to make my flower crown headpiece. We were to become Mr  & Mrs Mason so we thought it was only fitting to have everyone drink the margheritas out of Mason Jars. They didnt have Mason jars in Cabo so we had to organise a shipment of Mason Jars from the US which thankfully arrived prior.

Things just continue to get even more beautiful and emotional in their video, also captured (beautifully) by The Cana Family. Check it out…

Planning a destination wedding is never just about the wedding day alone, it is making a holiday week of it for guests so you also have to plan the events surrounding the day. We had a Welcome dinner when the guests flew in to Cabo, a Recovery lunch the day after the wedding and we also organised hiring a boat the last day before guests left for a boat cruise along the coastline with snorkelling, bbq and cocktails. It was a huge hit! Having the guests being able to mingle 5 days leading up to the wedding meant that everyone knew each other which was a great way to eliminate the pressure of introductions on the wedding day and everyone was already on friendly terms and could relax and enjoy themselves.
