When you’re coming from LA and love Palm Springs, mid-century design, and music, it’s no surprise that you might stumble upon Frank Sinatra House in your venue search. Kate + Brian were inspired by geometric angles and shapes, bright desert colors, and just a little old Hollywood glam, so there was really no better place to tie the knot. See how they infused their style into the venue in Jenn Emerling’s photos below!
Kate says, We wanted a small wedding that felt like a great house party: relaxed, with delicious food, lots of booze (we had a champagne toast during our ceremony to kick things off right) and quirky touches that showed our personalities… We both love Palm Springs, music and mid-century modern architecture, and Frank Sinatra’s Twin Palms Estate combines all three. Brian is a huge Sinatra fan, and all that history made it a really special for us to get married. The venue helped shape all the other details about our wedding, from the his + hers cocktails (a classic martini + a Manhattan) to the docent we hired to give guests tours of the home. We even incorporated the palm leaf wallpaper from one of the home’s bedrooms into our wedding invitations, and our Save the Dates were vintage-looking Palm Springs postcards. The bridal party walked down the aisle to Wouldn’t It Be Nice and God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. Kate walked down the aisle to Us by Regina Spektor, and their first dance was to Patience by Guns ‘N Roses.

I wanted something really different and non-traditional for our florals, and Katie from Going Steady Studios used tropical greens: monstera, palm and calathea – along with king protea for the bouquets. The table arrangements included mink proteas, pin cushion proteas, anthurium and banksia as well as succulents and bell cups.
They loved how vibrant + modern Jenn Emerling‘s photos are, and knew she’d be able to capture their mid-century inspired style in photos. No question!
Lastly, planning tips from our bide… My biggest planning tip would be to really research your vendors, and not just pay attention to their Pinterest boards and websites. There are so many vendors in the wedding business these days and service levels vary greatly: our floral designer not only stepped in at the last minute, but spent a ton of time creating samples and meeting with me—that personal touch was so appreciated. Another piece of advice would be to spend some time with your fiancé NOT talking about wedding planning. It can be a stressful time and sometimes a reminder of why you are getting married in the first place makes all the difference!
