Happy Friday, all! Anyone planning a destination elopement right about now? Olga + Oleg have us totally convinced that an elopement under a waterfall in Bali is the way to go. Bali wedding planners Wed Bali helped these two locate the most gorgeous, remote destination, the Pengibul waterfall in Ubud, where they tied the knot to the sounds of the rushing water around them while their photographer Oleg Breslavtsev captured the magic. Talk about dreamy!

Kate of Wed Bali says, Weddings on the waterfalls are always held in the morning, so be ready to wake up very early. In most cases, the makeup artist arrives at the hotel by 3:30 am or even earlier. For this reason, we advise you to plan a wedding day for 3-4 days after arrival, so you have time to acclimate and sleep.

Just a few lanterns and pretty blooms by Balimoon Wedding completed the elopement scene.

And Olga’s bridal bouquet included antirrhinum, celosia, cymbidium, dianthus, and eucalyptus berry, all in shades of red.

Another tip: If you’re choosing a remote natural location like this, stay away from a full, heavy wedding dress. Not only are light, airy dresses easier to travel with, they look more organic against the landscape.

When it came to finding the perfect tropical ceremony location for their summer elopement, O + O recommend finding a local wedding planner you can trust. Wed Bali proposed a few locations based off of the couple’s desire to have a beautiful, private spot on the island where it would be just the two of them. The Pengibul seemed like a risky spot because there hadn’t been any weddings there before to use as an example. The waterfall is tiered with different levels, giving it more depth than some of the other spots. Luckily, it’s still located in Ubud (where the other popular waterfall locations are), so it’s easy to find accommodations and transportation nearby.

(FYI, if you choose a waterfall location, don’t forget how noisy the location can be! For them, the noise of the water actually made the whole ceremony a lot more powerful and even calm at the same time.)

Olga tells it, Our photographer, Oleg Breslavtsev, was magical! It was enough for us to see his work and the decision was made right away. All photos are vivid, not simulated, the atmosphere and emotions of the day are captured very accurately. We are extremely grateful to him!

The ceremony at the waterfall can always be combined with portraits on the iconic rice terraces of Tegalalang. Schedule the portraits before the ceremony, so early in the AM, around 6 or 7, so there is the best lighting and few tourists.

After they got home, they had an intimate celebration with their family. See more from their Bali waterfall elopement in our inspiration gallery!

Their story… I was in love with Oleg at school when I was 13 years old. He was a very business-like, and I imagined us married, but we had an age difference of four years. Later, he finished high school and I forgot about it. I lived in peace until one day five years later, I came across his page on social media and added him as a friend. I just wanted to see his photos and how he lives now. He wrote me and the rest is history!

Cheers, O + O!
