One plate styled six ways with Crate and Barrel

Feminine french inspired place setting with Crate and Barrel

Remember way back when we shared a fall edition of our one plate styled six ways post with Crate and Barrel? Well, it’s about time we shared an updated version featuring the aptly named Essential Dinner Plate, for all you in the process of building out your Gift Registry as we speak. Guests might breeze by a crisp white plate as they take in all the details that make a pretty place setting, but as any good hostess knows, you really can’t do without it. The space would be rather incomplete, no?

Of course, 2018 brought with it a fresh take on some of our favorite wedding trends, such as rustic elegant and dark ‘n moody, so we enlisted our friend Annie McElwain to capture this single plate styled in six different, modern ways. First up, feminine French. Oui oui!

It’s customary to include an entire collection of white dinnerware on your Registry, as you’re likely to come across many an occasion in your newlywed days calling for salad plates and other dining necessities. And loved ones are usually happy to gift them, because it means something their newly married friends will use all the time. This is a 100LC personal fave for its simplicity and versatility, but there’s a few other collections we love too.

Oh, and little shout out to the Pryce Rocks Glass, while we’re here! Just the thing to make an all-white setting extra luxe.

Who here’s a fan of that elevated rustic look? (All hands in California raised!) Linen textures (Helena Dark Natural Linen Tablecloth is pictured here) and gold flatware give natural, quintessential rustic, elements like light wood and white blooms a more modern look. Plus, it all looks so easy breezy in the summer whether dining al fresco or with all the windows and doors open.

Another big trend (that we hope never, ever goes away!) is the dark and moody tablescape. Think back to this + this post. When it comes to pull off this sultry, refined look, it’s all about a little contrast. And yep, that’s where the Essential Dinner Plate comes in. Isn’t it amazing how you can get totally different designs (for all seasons, no less) with one staple piece?

If you’re as into this trend as we are, we’ll assume you’ve already caught sight of (and maybe even added to your Registry) some of Crate and Barrel’s prettiest pieces, like the Dex Black 20-piece Flatware Set and the Hayes Black Marble Board that really pull the whole ‘scape together.
