The promise of summer has us daydreaming about outside parties and bright colors. These colors are so yummy and modern and fun all at once, aren’t they?

We can totally imagine a wedding or party using all of the elements in the actual board. The photo backdrop, popsicles, peonies, gold leafed carafes… it’s all so inviting.

Yay, the color boards are back! We haven’t done one of these in forever.. sorry about that. We do love making them, so we promise to keep them up, starting with this color scheme for my wedding. I’m not really sure what our theme would be called.. the colors are 60′s-inspired brights mixed with neutrals. Think glamorous Mad Men, but with a modern twist. It’s so exciting to see it all come together now! I designed my invitations (for the most part), and am thinking about having them screen printed. Will show the work-in-progress soon!

Our reader Whitney won one of our custom colorboards, from participating in our survey awhile back. Here is the final result for her wedding inspiration.

Our colors are a deep yellow and a medium-hued, bold orange. We picked the colors because they’re special to us: I have “yellow” hair and he has “orange” hair, and at the beginning of our relationship he’d bring me yellow and orange candies. Plus we’re getting married in the fall so it works.

We’re not having a formal wedding party, just siblings, so we don’t need bridesmaids dresses or anything like that. Right now we’re looking for ways to incorporate the yellow and orange without it being too much. Any help you could give would be great!

Love pairing brights with neutrals for any occasion. Fashion, decor, and wedding planning, of course.
