diy holiday magnolia wreath

Your holiday decor is about to get a little more golden! After sharing our modern holiday mantel ideas post last week and hearing all the lovely feedback on our foxy gold statement wreath, we pleaded to Danielle from Brown Paper Design (the genius behind it all) to share the deets on how to recreate it. It’s completely doable and party guests are guaranteed to walk up to it and ask where you bought it.

olive branch holiday wreath

We stumbled upon these holiday wreaths by Amy Merrick on Pinterest the other day and knew they’d be perfect to share to get you in the mood for any holiday decorating plans you might have for the weekend. As we had started to write this post, Amy was offering a wreathmaking workshop in Brooklyn, but it has since sold out. Bummer! But we can still be inspired by them, yes? They’re so minimal and beautiful, and we’d gladly hang one up on our wall!

Have a wonderful weekend Cakelets! If you happen to go on any hikes, keep an eye out for pine cones and branches. You can turn them into a pretty wreath when you get home!

Oh! And come Monday, we’ll be sharing a DIY wreath tutorial we’ve been working on too!

Alrighty… time to get our holiday inspiration on, Cakelets! We put together this gorgy shoot with the help of Erin Hearts Court, Brown Paper Design, and Sara Forte of Sprouted Kitchen. Dream team! It’s impossible to resist the romance of champagne and sweets, so we dressed up that time-tested party theme with our Holiday Bubbly Bar.

100 Layer Cake's Bubbly Bar

Right?! If this isn’t a recipe for a smash-hit party, we’re not sure what is. That centerpiece Danielle created had us pretty much gasping for air when it appeared at our shoot. And Sara’s beautiful deserts were as tasty as they are pretty.

100 Layer Cake's Bubbly Bar

This is actually a pretty manageable party theme. Grab a few (or 10) bottles of champagne and gather a handful of complementary syrups and liquors for mixing. Then add a few yummy garnishes and you’ve got a sparkly party on your hands.

Tal from the Pharmacie (our favorite cocktail guru) suggests soaking a sugar cube in bitters in the glass, then topping with bubbly. Or just add a splash of fruit-based liquor to your champagne for a DIY Royale.

Sara whipped up Pumpkin Gingersnap Trifle, Almond Date Truffles, Chocolate Peppermint Molten Cake, and a yummy cheese and fruit platter.

And we created a few sparkly party details to make sipping even more fun.

Isn’t that cake dome amazing? Bountiful in Venice loaned us a bunch of beautiful cake plates and domes for the shoot. And guess what? They’re have a HALF off holiday sale right now!

Pretty, pretty, right? We’d love to actually attend this party. Anyone want to throw one? We’ll be sharing the rest of the shoot (yes, there’s more!), and a few DIY tutorials this week too. Plus we’re giving away a copy of Sara‘s beautiful new cookbook. Stay tuned!

Hop over to our Facebook page for more photos from this shoot.

It’s an especially happy Friday around here since we get to talk about cocktails + florals with you. In June we shared these summery drinks, so we wanted to keep the series going by pulling together a few cocktails that are both the perfect colors for fall and delicious, and floral arrangements that would make any fall wedding dreamy. Who knows, maybe one of these could be your signature wedding cocktail + bouquet (wink wink), or they could just be something you shake & stir tonight!

We love the idea of plum being the dominant color in fall weddings. Paired with gold and vintage elements, like in this vintage wedding inspiration shoot, it looks gorgeous!

We’re having a hard time deciding which cocktail/floral combo is calling our name. They kind of all are!

Happy Friday, Cakelets!

spiceman's garden shoot

The Bell Jar is a collective of some of Texas’ most creative talent (Apryl Ann Photography, Bows + Arrows, Southern Fried Paper, and After Yes). When they get together pretty things happen, and when they walked across the street from their antique studio space in Dallas to discover a local garden, sparks flew. It’s the perfect setting for an intimate, romantic garden wedding. Once you’ve seen how they’ve styled it, you’ll fall in love too, and want to recreate that amazing floral wreath chandelier and alter installation. So pretty!

Part boho and part chic with her flowing prairie skirt, the “bride” looks adorable in a leopard print corsette and floral head wreath. Ah, but that organic bouquet steals the spotlight using herbs from the garden and farm fresh blooms.
