If Barbie were friends with Kate Spade back in the day, and married Ken at The Parker in Palm Springs, hired Bows and Arrows for their florals, and Ben Q Photography to capture all the lovely details, the result would undoubtedly be this shoot you’re about to see. Lots of pink, tasty cakes, glitter accents, bright pops of color, polka dots and stripes make this the perfect combo of a little retro and a little glam.

We don’t see too many bridemaids wearing corsages anymore, but wouldn’t that be cute? A blooming peonie with hanging sequin to wrap around their wrists?

Hope we’re not the only ones that noticed the dessert on the menu: Strawberry milkshake with chocolate sprinkles! Perhaps a milkshake bar? That’s a fun idea for a retro 50s inspired wedding.

Add a classy touch by folding sleek black napkins to look like bow ties on your dinnerware.

Secret Garden styled inspiration shoot

Seafoam green goes good with, well… everything. It may as well be a mandatory color for Spring. When paired with white and bright yellow floral arrangements and placed underneath a crystal chandelier, in a hidden modern day secret garden in Vero Beach, Florida, it’s quite the romantic set-up. Lara Fiorelli of Lara’s Theme Events dreamt up one of the most inviting tablescapes, Peach Leaf Paperie designed a bright lemon yellow invitation suite, and the collaborative team behind Vitalic Photo shot it all. Step in and be inspired!

That little spot is just right for an intimate wedding, tea party bachelorette party, or birthday dinner!

Quaint California Spanish cottage wedding: Silvia + Bryan

We’re getting ready to sign off for the weekend, but not before we can share Silvia + Bryan’s wedding. There was no specific theme per se, but you kind of don’t need one when your venue is a spanish cottage overlooking the ocean. Some gold accents here and there, found drift wood details, a variety of potted succulent escort cards, and a colorful ribbon arch is enough of a vision to keep us through the weekend.

Bryan built the arch they married under and Silvia added her touch by hanging bright ribbon from it.

We’re a fan of escort cards doubling as party favors especially when they’re potted succulents! What lucky guests they had.

Silvia printed and gold-paint-dipped the thank you/menu cards that were placed at each place setting. The table numbers were also painted/stained/put together by her. I bought unfinished wood craft frames from Michaels ($1 each) and stained them the same color as what went on the wedding arch. I used cardstock purchased at Michaels for the backing and painted the wooden numbers the same gold that I used for the thank you/menu cards and on the “pick a seat” sign for cohesiveness.

Hello, we want these centerpieces! Silvia wanted their centerpieces to look as if they had been plucked from a field… mossy and overflowing… very organic with a combo of white hydrangea, mini green hydrangea, dinner plate dahlias, white ranunculus, artichokes, dusty miller, maiden hair fern, green hypericum, succulents potted, succulents, moss and Manzanita branches.

That fun gold LOVE print came from MadebyGirl.

The cake stand was also Bryan’s creation. They found the stump on a slope near their house, hauled it back to their place and cut it to size, polyurethaned it and carved their initials on it.

Quite the handy bunch aren’t they? Congratulations Silvia + Bryan!

Pastel + watercolor wedding decor ideas

On Monday we were all about the glitter and sparkles in this shoot. Yesterday, we were all into bright and bold Spring colors. Today, considering we’re still in the middle of Spring (no more rain, please), we’re keeping it going with the softer side of Spring fever. You know – a bit of pastel and watercolor. Harwell Photography teamed up with the talented, Erica Loesing for the latest Atlanta Weddings Color issue in creating the concept behind this creative and fun backdrop. Erica makes it look so easy! We invite you to plan a craft night and get some of these projects going! They’re way to cute not to.

Idea #1: Paint chips. Hello, Home Depot! They can go a long way and are cheap. Plus there are handfuls of colors to choose from. For a big impact, consider scale and the appeal of an entire wall of color swatches.

Idea #2: Forgo traditional jewelry in favor of a bib necklace made from ranunculus and peonies (or whatever flowers fit your theme), or a ring made of clover. Fresh floral jewelry is the perfect accessory for a springtime bride.

Idea #3: Remember those paint chips you got? Keep extras to use as your escort cards! You can hang them across a rope with mini clothespins or mount them onto a large white backdrop that can be watercolored over.

Idea#4: Tear out a page from your sketchbook or bring in a sample of a Cy Twombly painting for icing inspiration.

A Bohemian Summer Party + Shop

This is a v. exciting morning here at 100LC HQ you guys. We get to share this pretty shoot we put together AND offer so many of the products we used for sale in our shop! We’ve got a whole range of pretties on sale starting right now, so as soon as you’ve had time to pin every image below, head over to the Pop-Up Shop and start the retail therapy! We’ll be shopping in there with you.

Backyard parties are one of the great joys of summer, don’t you think? We thought we’d get a jump on the season with a little party for our 100LC family. It was so nice to enjoy dinner with our families, as opposed to how we usually spend time together – which is working on 100LC! We made a fun little cocktail hour set up using Indian block-printed tapestries, a vintage rug, and a few cute poufs. Our cocktail came from a Design*Sponge post – the Cardamom Rose cocktail. Twas highly delicious, and we definitely recommend that you try it!

We bought all of the flowers at the Flower Market in downtown LA and assembled them the day of the shoot. DIY-ing flowers is totally doable for a small party! The secret is floral foam.

Our feather-topped drink stirrers really prettied up the rustic elements of our backyard. (Kits are on sale in the shop right now!) And the solar-powered lanterns from Allsop Garden made setting up lighting in the trees really a snap.

That’s us enjoying a little drink together!

For dinner we set up a communal table on the patio using gorgeous, vintage pieces from Casa de Perrin, textiles from Nancy Straughan, and truly delicious, seasonal food from Whoa Nelly! Catering. Those girls really out-did themselves! J & R Foods provided extremely cute and extremely tasty jars of harissa as favors. You guys, we’ve tasted almost all of their jams and spreads and not one has disappointed! They are divine, and would be such a welcome treat as a take-home from any event.

Those adorable pink Moroccan tea glasses are on sale in the shop right now too. (Hint, hint.)

Um, fava bean puree with homemade flatbread? We’re thinking we should be hiring Whoa Nelly! to cater our dinners every night. The preserved lemon from SQIRL was incredibly delicious too. We’ll be purchasing a jar or two more of those soon!

A 100LC family party wouldn’t be complete without Jillian’s little Liam and Kristina’s little Dashiell! Those boys.

Awwww our snuggly engaged couple! Aren’t they sweet? The Moroccan Wedding blanket couldn’t have found a better pair.

Thanks so much for everyone who graciously offered to contribute to the shoot! Just looking at the photos is making us so excited for summer! Now, 1 – 2 – 3 … GO! The shopping madness in the Pop-Up Shop has begun!
