Alrighty Cakelets! It’s time to close up until the new year. We’ll miss you all terribly, but to be totally honest, we need a break too!

It’s been an amazing year with you all, and if we could send each of you a personal holiday card in the REAL mail, we would… because you guys are definitely what makes 100 Layer Cake an inspiring, beautiful community. We’re looking forward to a week away from email and screens, (except our phones of course – must keep up with Instagram, after all), and the daily hustle in favor of some relaxed time with family and friends. We hope you all have a chance to enjoy the same.

We’ll be back in January with lots of beautiful weddings, and a really really rad sale in the Pop-Up Shop with Sarah Yates and Birds of a Feather Photography! Those of you getting engaged over Christmas (we know there will be a few of you!), might as well book a super awesome photographer first thing!

Merry Everything to all of you.

xoxo

Hey, 2012!  You’re just around the corner and we can already tell you’re looking good. Just promise to be as full of sparkly pretty things as this shoot is, styled by Sarah Tucker Events. For any Cakelets taking the plunge and saying ‘I Do’ this New Year’s Eve/Day, we wish you the best! Everyone else, feast your eyes on this shoot, photographed by the dreamy Jessica Lorren Organic. Its southern mossy oaks served as the perfect backdrop for this New Years brunch inspired shoot and the sprinkles of gold shimmer have us wanting to bring out the sparklers!

The 1950s tea length dress with scalloped lace was picked out at Retro Rosies in Downtown Bradenton.  It’s a cute vintage shop with an entire room of affordable vintage wedding gowns and accessories all under $100!

The New Year’s inspired mask the bride is wearing was painted with metallic gold spray paint and fitted with soft pink velvet ribbon, and the romantic calligraphy seating chart by Rachel Carl & Co has mixed metallics to note the table numbers. It was fastened to an oak tree trunk on top of vintage pink lace that was once a dress.

Few things are better than a fresh baked biscuit. Especially during the holidays. They’re buttery bits of fluffy goodness that usually take their place alongside a Thanksgiving meal, or in a basket, toppled with more of its friends. Not anymore.

A little biscuit makeover from planner & stylist extraordinaire Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming!, with inspiring paper delights from Rachelle of Wiley Valentine, will have you wanting to bake a dozen by end of day and gift them out as a yummy and thoughtful holiday gift.  We’re sharing our favorite bitty biscuits from the shoot featured in the recent issue of Southern Weddings Magazine, so if you want to see more snag yourself a copy!

For the sweet tooth friend that will savor every bite – a gold-flaked chocolate-dipped biscuit surprise!

We know these would make adorable favors at weddings and events, but are you thinking what we’re thinking? Homemade holiday gifts! We bet they’d be just as fun to put together as they are to eat.
