Jaime Brooks, Founder of Fiore Beauty says it best, “Life is short, wear lipstick!”. Simple, straight to the point, and so true. Since they’re the guru’s on everything beauty we asked for some lipstick tips & picks to help out all you brides-to-be. We’ll let Jaime take over from here…

With summer weddings coming up, having a pretty pout is especially important so let’s take this opportunity to talk lips. You want to treat them nice with a treatment, make sure they are hydrated, prep for your color application, and choose the best ever lipsticks and glosses that make you one happy gal!

1. Treatment: Sometimes your lips are just dry & flaky despite lots of water and lip balm. Give them a little TLC with Sara Happ Lip Scrub.
2. Moisturize: A fabulous lip balm is such a luxury!  My favorites are… Malin and Goetz Mojito Lip Balm - so hydrating with special lipid technology that really works, and Laura Mercier Lip Balm SPF 15 - I really like this one because it feels great, smells like brown sugar and its basically a SPF chapstick that goes on like a lipstick because sometimes I don’t feel like a sticking my finger in a pot and other SPF chapsticks aren’t so lovely.

3. Prep for color: You want a very defined lip line for a pretty, done up lip. Instead of using lip liner, just extend your foundation, concealer, and/or powder a bit over your lip line and paying special attention to the corners or your mouth to get rid of any redness at your lip borders. Then when you apply your lipstick or gloss it will look super sharp and clean.
4. Color: The most fun part! You’ll notice that my lipstick recommendations are mostly NARS and MAC because of their formulations, shades, and color pay-off.  And here we go…

wedding day lips

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Crayon in Dragon Girl (blue red) or Red Square (orange red). I swear by the formulation of these lip crayons, they stay put, pack a punch of super color, but don’t dry your lips out, and the colors just don’t get better.
MAC’s Lady Danger - A super poppy retro orange red.
NARS Scarlett Empress - A gorgeous berry red that flatters all skins and can be blended out for a sheer stain or worn boldly.
NARS Funny Face - A slightly iridescent fuchsia pink red that soooo good.

Now choosing for pink is what separates the girls from the women. It’s no easy task. Here goes…

MAC Candy Yum Yum - The most unique and special shade of hot pink though not for the faint of heart.
MAC Pink Nouveau - A lovely soft, Barbie-ish pink with enough sophistication that you don’t actually feel like Barbie.
NARS Cat Fight - A super sexy matte baby pink that is one step up from nude. Perfect on its own or as a firm base for your glamorous gloss.

NARS Niagara - I love this color!  Its a great refreshing color that brings out blue eyes, green eyes, the pink in cheeks. Its a pop color for ladies who need to work their way into it or a neutral for ladies who love their pop lip.
MAC Costa Chic - It’s a bright, punchy, and fun milky coral!

Can’t forget about glosses! Super easy and perfect when you’re playing up your eyes.

Chanel Glossimer - Gorgeous, elegant, and nuanced shades with the most perfect formulation that doesn’t feel too sticky but still lasts.
Buxom Lip Polish - I love the brown sugar smell and I think the range of colors and finishes is fantastic. They look beautiful on.
Two Faced Glamour Gloss -  Super moisturizing and First Time is the perfect nude.

Loose halo hair tutorial | 100 Layer Cake

This loose halo hairstyle by Amanda Paige is the perfect look for any upcoming spring weddings, don’t you think? It’s not so hot yet to wear all the way up, gives you pretty waves, and can be adorned with a few gold leaves. And after practicing this tutorial ourselves, it’s actually quite simple to pull off. Many thanks to Austin Gros for capturing it in such perfect light, and Jessica Sloane for adding some gorgeous floral & bouquet inspiration to the tutorial!

How to get the look:

1. Start off by curling all of your hair to add texture.
2. Next, take the front section of one side of your hair, twist, and pin it back with a bobby pin. (leaving end strands out)
3. Then, take a section of hair directly under where you just pinned the first section, twist and pin, covering the first bobby pin.
4. Repeat this process until you get to the center back of your hair. Taking sections, twisting and pinning back, making sure to cover bobbypins.
5. Repeat on opposite side.
6. Continue until the two sides meet in the center back of hair, pin together so it forms one continous halo.

Swoon, this bouquet is beautiful. Jessica Sloane used astilbe, ranunculus, white peonies, eucalyptus seen and a few foraged greens to create this stunner.

Skin soothing cantaloupe mask

Sun goddesses, this one’s for you. I wanted to end my Caribbean journey in the most relaxing way possible – with a simple skin soothing treatment you can try out this weekend. I picked up the recipe for this sweet treatment, the “Sun Downer” while at the Hotel Le Toiny’s spa. It’s a refreshing body mask with green clay, aloe vera, mint & melon, and perfect to use as we ease out of Summer. Of course, it’s also a great treatment to do right before you jet off to your destination wedding! Plus, it helps to reduce redness, hydrates and reinvigorates your skin. Sigh…

Cantaloupe mask

This treatment is so easy and you can find all these ingredients at your local market! Try it out this weekend if you’re so inclined and let me know how much you loved it. I hope you enjoyed our Caribbean adventure and hope it inspires you to take a trip somewhere exotic.

xo,

Jillian

Girls night out with Benefit Cosmetics

Little Miss Party did a bang up job with the treats and flowers for the NYC event. Those cake pops are by Kreated by Kristan. So super cute!

And is any party really complete without a Geronimo Balloon Trooper?!! NO. Which is why Jihan sent a few over for our events. She’s such a doll, really. And her balloons were perfect for a girlie party.

In LA, Früute provided a wildly delicious display of bite size tarts. Weren’t they amazing? OMG. Each one is like a little work of art.

We hope you guys liked your tees too!

We are so super fired up (yes, fired up) for this week’s Pop-Up Shop sale, you guys! One Love Organics is an amazing, 100% pure, totally natural, waterless skin care line and we’re quite certain that anyone who tries it will love it. We’ve been using it for months and must say that we’re totally hooked. It feels so good to find a line that makes great products, using natural, non-chemical ingredients, that truly follows the “less is more” philosophy.

One Love makes 4 products, and they really are all you need. Isn’t that great? We’ve got the whole line in our shop this week so try one product or all of them. We swear you won’t be disappointed!

Kendra from One Love put together a cute little spa party shoot with Amanda, Kristina, Becky and Erika (and shot by the lovely Bonnie Tsang) to show you all 1) how cute the line is and 2) what a fun bachelorette party activity this would be! Maybe pick up a tub of balm for each of your maids? It would be an amazing little gift. And the balm in particular makes a great base for mineral make-up, giving you a pretty dewy glow, perfect for your wedding look.

Maybe even test out your wedding day make up and accessories when you’re all together. Playing dress-up is always fun.

The very cool thing about these products is that they’re all multi-use. So the scrub (which is an amazing way to start every day) can also be turned into a mask. The balm can be used as a cleanser, a make-up base, make-up remover… the list goes on.

And the serum is the most luxurious night time treat for your face, made of super high quality ingredients and crafted specially by the founder of One Love as her own dream product. And all the products are still made by her, by hand. This line is legit!

We strongly strongly urge you to give it a try. It’s fantastic. And, you can get the entire line for such an amazing price it would be almost silly to pass it up. Don’t tell, but we’ll be shopping this sale ourselves.
