So, we know that most bridal showers aren’t this well thought out and coordinated and styled and everything, so don’t compare yours to this one! But we still thought you all would like to see it, because it’s reeeeeally good. Samantha and Whitney of Gus & Ruby Letterpress headed up the styling and did all the pretty paper details, with Jenna’s scrumptious calligraphy.

The concept was that like a good marriage, Lauren (the bride and Samantha’s close friend) is both sweet and spicy. The food, decor, and paper details all followed the theme and it turned out so cute! They even asked guests to wear either sweet pink or spicy red. Talk about going all out!

Last weekend Jillian and Jenna, along with Blossom & Branch did the most spectacular collaboration for their booth at the “Here Comes the Brooklyn Bride” BAM event. Together they created a unique tablescape to reflect their business offerings within the industry. Since they only had one table they decided to make the most of their ideas by splitting it in half and designed a vintage concept on one side and a modern concept on the other.

The vintage concept had a Marie Antoinette feel, dripping with shimmery gold and accented with blush pinks and turquoise. (ooooo!) Jenna created the fantastic “Just Married” sign above, bursting out of a horn with gold glitter. (ahhhhh!)

Blossom & Branch created a beautiful arrangement in a vintage vase with gold glitter spirals. And, yes you’re seeing Hostess snowballs over there…while they may or may not be the most appetizing they sure make a statement within this tablescape. We’re dying over those scroll escort cards with gold glitter edge.

A few other touches worth mentioning were this gold sparkled paper instead of a fabric runner. It’s such an affordable way to create ambiance if you don’t want to do a custom runner. Also, Jillian choose to use paper napkins printed with dainty cake illustrations…a perfect tie-back to their Marie Antoinette theme.

For the Modern look they went with a Kate Spade meets Brooklyn feel. If you haven’t seen pics of the Kate Spade flagship store in NY lately, the whole thing is decorated in a wondrous tape installation by Rebecca Ward. Clearly the perfect inspiration for the table! The use of ribbon is such a stunning and inexpensive way to add oodles of flair to a plain white tablecloth.

To add humor Jillian & Jenna created these playful silhouetted escort cards that have different phrases in each thought bubble. And they thought, if you’re representing Brooklyn you gotta have some Brooklyn gum.

Blossom and Branch mimicked the modern theme with beautiful monochromatic arrangements. Check out those amazing pink pineapple flowers!

Lastly, they couldn’t resist using Italian Campari soda bottles with hot pink striped straws as a cute favor or drink idea. The tags say “xo Red Hook” and represent a neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Fantastic job ladies!

Finding a unique and fun idea for a Wedding Shower or Bachelorette party is never easy. Sarah of Blossom and Branch thought of a sweet way to incorporate Bodega Flowers, something you always see on your way home from the office, into a class to cater to us city dwellers. Since Courtney has been guest blogging with us for the week we thought we’d invite her as well as other friends to a class and make it all cute for ya’ll.

From Sarah:

Bodega Flowers: 101″ was dreamed up with the idea that New York City women often feel they are too busy to bring the simple beauty of fresh flowers into their lives. And the savvy consumer is also conscious of the expense of floral arrangements. Meanwhile, We all pass those local groceries with mounds of inexpensive flowers on the way to bus or train. I thought, why not show people how to gather some bunches from the local bodega and create something charming in their home? This class teaches women how to shop for, clean/prepare and arrange flowers, using their own container.

For Courtney and our friends, I selected some basic bunches of roses, tulips and carnations from the local bodega and showed the ladies how to take them from generic to chic.

What’s a party without making it look all cute. Jillian gathered some local talents to help spruce up my apartment for the class. We rolled out craft paper, Love*Jenna used her talents to create personalized workstations, Jillian handmade aprons by using Ikea dish towels and Linda & Harriet donated their zig zag printed note pads for the occasion.

To spice up the party treats and spirits must be present. I enlisted Sasha Smith of Spin the Bottle NY to provide a wine education and tasting for the ladies. Leah my incredible partner in crime and second mom created scrumptious finger sandwiches. And, a Brooklyn party isn’t quite complete without the help of One Girl Cookies decadent sweets which paired nicely with what Sasha was pouring. All the ladies could take some sweets home with those cute craft bags by Nice Package.

I gave all the ladies a little instruction and look at em’ go…then Viola! Perfection.

Certainly you’re all familiar with the superduper talented Mimi of Mika78. And clearly we’re all going to want to be a little MORE familiar with her after this post is over. Because if you’re more familiar, as in like friends with her, she puts together an amazing bridal shower for you, complete with a little box of handmade goodies for your guests.

Look out Mimi, you’re about to get like 4,000 friend requests on facebook.

100lc_diymika-78paperfinger1

Mimi created this whole suite for one of her closest friends Christina’s bridal shower. Christina is, in Mimi’s words, and unbelievable woman and friend and Mimi wanted to create something really, really special to celebrate her bridal status. She and the rest of the bridesmaids planned an afternoon tea party at a cute restaurant in the West Village, which turned out to be exceptional inspiration for the invitation.

100lc_diymika-78paperfinger6

Because Mimi is so incredibly talented, thoughtful, and design-obsessed she scoured the city’s vintage flea markets for weeks looking for the perfect tea cups and napkins to incorporate into her design. Sigh. Does it get much more heartfelt? (Not to mention absurdly cute).

100lc_diymika-78paperfinger2

She worked with our now friend and DIY contest winner Bryn of Paperfinger (we didn’t know her when she won the contest, we swear), for the pretty calligraphy. Bryn wrote a bunch of different messages, including a quote Christina is using in her invitations, on the vintage tea cups using gold pen. And Mimi also included tea bags with little handmade tea tags in each guest gift.

100lc_diymika-78paperfinger5

AND Mimi made little fill-in-the-blank notes for guests to give to Chris at the shower. Everyone read theirs aloud at the shower and it turned out to be an excellent way to not only get to know Chris’s friends and family a little better, but also to allowed each woman to reflect on her own friendship with the bride-to-be. At the end Mimi collected each note and put them into a scrapbook for Chris. Such a cute idea!

100lc_diymika-78paperfinger41

The finished invite was literally a box full of goodies, tied up in baker’s twine and sent off to guests. If that doesn’t get you pumped for a bridal shower, we can’t imagine what would.

Guess what else? Because Mimi is genuinely the talented and thoughtful person that we already said she is, she’s made downloadable fill-in-the-blank cards for you all to print for an upcoming shower or party you’re hosting yourself.

There are 4 color variations included in the zip file. Even if you’re not hosting a shower in the near future, we highly recommend stashing these away for a time when they’ll come in handy. They really are too cute to pass up.

Thank you so much Mimi! Amazing work as always.

Ooh and you can keep up with everything Mimi does on her blog, SevenEight. Actually, there’s a little peek of Chris + Jay’s programs up there right now.
