This is definitely the first for us. Not the first wedding we’ve featured with a ton of DIY details or mismatched bridesmaid dresses, but the first wedding to ever take place inside of a velodrome. See, Anna + Mark own a bike shop together, so it was only appropriate for them to get married in one. Now come to think of it, they may also be the first couple we’ve featured that has broken the guest count record, at 325 guests total! And that’s after having to narrow down their list. Take a peek at all of their colorful details!

It’s obvious these two have lots of people around them that they love because this may also be one of the largest wedding parties we’ve seen.

white and cream fabric rosette bouquet

Aside from hiring their photographer, Jana Marie, Justin + Chelsea had the wedding of their dreams for a very sweet price tag of $2,500. Everything was handmade by their family & friends (their dads playing a huge part in this). Let us stress, everything. Really, they didn’t buy one piece of their decor. They couldn’t bear the thought of spending thousands of dollars on one day, but wanted their day to be personal, special, rustic, simple, cheap & memorable.

bohemian wedding style

Weddings like Liz + Josh’s make us smile. They’re so bright & cheery, filled with pretty DIY details and it’s so easy to see how their wedding was truly a labor of love. From the garlands to the gold glitter disco ball, the tabletop centerpieces to the corn hold game and signage. It was the perfect bohemian, outdoor, relaxed and intimate celebration they were going for. And what better place to gather than their close friend’s home. Both the ceremony and reception took place in the backyard, under the stars and harvest moon.

My dress was such a heartfelt venture custom made by Miss Tashina. I was able to use bits and pieces from both my grandmother’s and my mom’s wedding dresses. Being as though neither my Grandmother nor my Dad are with us any longer.. It meant the world to me to know they were there with me in spirit.

vintage quilted dress

Ohh these two are a fun bunch. They had a caravan of pedicabs take their entire bridal party from the ceremony to the reception, had guests sit on blankets and picnic during their ceremony, gifted custom designed beer pints and vintage plates to guests, and finished the day off with a Seattle staple – Top Pot donuts. On top of that, Andrea sewed napkins, Tyson built the branch chandelier at their reception, and they sourced their food and flowers locally in an effort to keep their party as green as possible. We can only imagine how much fun One Love Photo had following these two lovebirds around.

In the midst of all the last minute details, I actually elected to not carry a bridal bouquet. To me, it was a detail that didn’t seem critical. The afternoon before the wedding my matron of honor caught wind of this and simply wouldn’t have it. She zipped down to Pike Place Market, picked up 4-5 random seasonal flower bouquets and arranged an incredible bouquet for me as well as corresponding mini bouquets for the bridesmaids. It was magic. Dahlias and Chrysanthemums in various colors as well as a few branches for texture.

The tunes: Andrea walked down the aisle to ‘Harvest Moon’ by Neil Young, they both exited the ceremony to ‘Golden’ by My Morning Jacket, and their first dance was to ‘Into The Mystic’ by Van Morrison.

Finding a dress was difficult for me because I wanted something really unique but I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars. In the end, the quilted dress I found at Belltown Bride was the perfect hybrid of classic with a twist of odd. My experience was similar to when I go shopping for vintage clothing where so often a dress looks terrible on the hanger but if you just give it a chance, and try it on, it comes to life. The quilted dress was nothing short of bizarre on the hanger. When I put it on I smiled in delight.

Fun little fact from One Love Photo – they loved the above image of their doughnut bar so much that they painted a 30×30 canvas inspired from it and now have it hanging in their dining room!

vintage 50s picnic style wedding

If you’re able to have all of your guests dress in their finest 50′s threads for a vintage inspired picnic wedding, the result could be a fabulous fête like this UK one. The fashion, hair, makeup, and shades were stellar! Every guest participated, and there really wasn’t a detail left untouched. Sophie + Gareth love all things vintage, so they spent a good year trawling charity shops, and antique fairs looking for lace and vintage tablecloths, glass vases and accessories. You’ll love how they pulled it all together…

Their tunes: For their ceremony, they played Sigur Ros’, Hoppipolla, then The Beach Boys, God only Knows and Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl played while they signed their certificate. Their first dance was to Andy Williams’ Moon River.

A few words from Sophie: Try to keep it as personal as you can – it’s your day and your guests will appreciate the little personal touches. Everyone commented on how ‘us’ the wedding was. It is the biggest party you will ever organise and in our case probably the only time we would have all of our loved ones in the same place together so we wanted to create a laid back feel to encourage everyone to relax and interact – it totally worked. So plan, plan and then do more planning – the only way you will be able to relax yourselves on the day is to know every detail has been thought about and covered. Make sure your venue have your schedule and know to stick to it so you can enjoy your day. Oh… and every now and again take a deep breath and take it all in!
