We haven’t seen too many anniversary portraits as of late but if you + your other half haven’t considered any yet, these Salvation Mountain photos by Esther of Eslee miiiight sway your vote. Not only is this spot a few hours SE of us a visual wonder, it was the perfect way for Chrystal (owner of planning + design company A Blissful Soirée) and Timothy to rep the faith that brought and keeps them together.

I wanted to incorporate some details from our wedding day in the shoot to make it more personal. I had Art by Sarah Ku customize a piece for me for my one-year wedding anniversary that I gifted to my husband. It was calligraphy lyrics to our first dance song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” I also had the same mini red velvet cupcakes from my wedding at the shoot because I love sweets. I also wanted to incorporate flowers but this time, instead of real flowers, I decided to use paper flowers (since they last forever). Sara from Handmade by Sara Kim created such a beautiful paper flower bouquet and paper boutonniere for us and isn’t it just absolutely stunning?

Chrystal says, Our first year of marriage was a learning process. There are 2 different personalities under one roof now, 2 different ways of doing laundry, 2 different ways of washing the dishes, 2 different opinions on what is clean, etc. It was hard because it felt like we were getting to know each other all over again. As we were reaching our one-year anniversary, it finally felt like 2 people were finally coming together to understand one another. My husband and I are far from being perfect. But the past 2 years or our married life, we have learned to love unconditionally and sacrificially.
