Summer backyard wedding: Kimberly + Alexander

June 30, 2015

Just FYI, you’ll probably want to take notes on all the romantic fashion appearing throughout this wedding. But first, a bit about Alex + Kimmy: They love the outdoors and made sure nature’s beauty was evident throughout their wedding design. Flowers were sprinkled throughout the family home. A DIY floral archway and rustic cake stand furthered the theme. Tons of greenery throughout the property didn’t hurt either (you’ll see what we mean). And what better to place against a lush landscape than boho attire and rustic furniture?

Thanks to Green Apple Photography for the photos:

Can we talk about how amazing Kimmy’s custom dress is? Totally channels the “70s moody bohemian with a splash of 40s flapper” vibe she wanted. She worked with Michelle Golightly to create a top + skirt with fringe beading made up of clear, gold, and bronze beads strung along the neckline, trim, waistline, and down past the length of the dress.

K + A designed everything themselves. Kimmy explains, I used deep reds, corals, dark purples, greens and nudes. The bohemian style has always been a favorite of mine. Ever since I was little I have loved fringe and flowy dresses. I wanted my wedding to look natural and easy. I love the beauty of nature and I wanted to incorporate nature as much as possible. There were A LOT of flowers. In my opinion, you can’t have enough flowers. I love them.

The bride’s biggest hurdle in 4 months of planning: The dress. My dress was so unique it was hard to make the fabric fluid with all of the beading. Michelle Golightly was so patient with me and was able to create my vision.

The groom’s: The man bun. He’d played sports in college and never had the chance to grow out his hair like he wanted. Those are hard to grow, he says. Ha!

Congrats you two!
