Happy Friday, lovelies! Have you all been following Bridal Fashion Week this season? One of the highlights for us definitely has to be Leanne Marshall‘s Fall/Winter 2018 bridal collection. Complete with dresses drenched in a gorgeous autumn gold, we just had to learn more. Inspired by the concept of getting lost together, each gown designed for the un-fussy, bohemian bride is more stunning than the last. Swoon over each one in our q+a with Leanne below!
The inspiration: Autumn Glow. Leanne says, I envisioned a bride running and getting lost in beautiful field of wildflowers drenched in the soft, warm glow of Autumn sunlight.
Aurora is a clean silhouette with a classic shape with a few unique and hidden special features. The top is in a rich silk twill satin in Autumn Gold, with thin waist belt. The skirt is in a printed silk organza with a gradient printed effect cascading down from Autumn Gold at the waist into a dusk violet gray and then to ivory. There is a hidden slit on the side and layers for texture and volume.
Pascaline features full banded-cuff sleeves in a wildflower lace design, supported V-neck bodice in lace covered Italian silk satin, and an open diamond lace detail back. The skirt is the lightest weight, buttery soft silk chiffon that catches the breeze and hovers in the air like a cloud.
Talk a little about the concept of a fantasy world/escapism for the new collection.
I think many of us can relate to the desire to escape this current state of reality at the moment. There’s also something about the power of a bright color to uplift one’s spirits. A kind of magic lies in this rich, amber-yellow that beckoned to me this season. It can really warm the soul just like the rays of a golden Autumn sunset. Who doesn’t want to run off into a field of flowers to chase that setting sun?
What colors, materials, and details were used and what influenced those decisions?
Autumn Gold is our feature color in this collection. I developed a print based on a beautiful Autumn sunset that is highlighted on our Aurora gown. I used laces that are reminiscent of wildflowers and we introduced a very textured silk/cotton bow-dotted chiffon.
Which brides do you see wearing these gowns?
It’s for a carefree-spirited bride. This isn’t your typical princess. She favors natural, outdoor settings over city sophistication. She wants to move, dance and truly feel and experience the magic of the moment and day rather than being so fixated on an ideal of a typical “picture perfect” wedding.
