Bohemian modern fiesta wedding: Katie + Adam
After seeing Let’s Frolic Together’s photos of K + A’s wedding in SW Colorado, you’d never know their biggest struggle was location. Even though they were living in New Mexico at the time, they’ve moved all over the US over their 8 years together. The area tends to have a lot of rustic weddings, and these two envisioned more of a laidback, modern feel. Adam found The Smiley Building and convinced Katie that they could make it their own no matter what, 6 months later they pulled it off:
The bouquet recipe: protea, peonies, pincushion proteas, English roses, ranunculus, and eucalyptus
Katie says, I found Jasmine of Let’s Frolic Together while down a rabbit hole on the internet and she was definitely one of our best decisions. From the moment we looked through her photos, we fell in love with how she captures people and emotions so authentically. She is extremely professional but is also playful and easy going, making us feel so comfortable despite being photographed all day!
Wish we could get our hands on these sweet Tory Burch heels! Katie also wore a Sarah Seven gown after falling in love with the silk crepe trumpet skirt, so she styled it with a lace corset-style top for the ceremony and a fun crop top for the reception.
Since their main goals were for their 110 fam and friends to have fun and feel comfortable, they ended up going for an elevated backyard party feel with games, tacos, lounge areas, and lots of bright, modern bohemian accents.
We struggled to find rentals that we loved and fit into the vision we had so we took on a lot of the projects ourselves and were lucky to have family who pitched in. Early on, Adam jokingly threw out that his dad could make all the tables and it stuck. He made over 20 beautiful wooden hairpin leg tables and brought them all the way from Mississippi. Adam and I made the bar, bench and escort card display. I learned some Photoshop basics and created all the paper goods. Elsa of Heirlooms Durango and I worked together on the signage for the day. My mom made the yard games and Elsa dip-dyed the linen napkins. Since we decided to do a DIY bar, the night before the wedding my whole family even worked together to juice hundreds of limes for fresh margaritas.
Advice from our bride… Find a planner who understands your vision and is flexible. Despite all my insane emails about the smallest details, Elsa of Heirlooms Durango was still so enthusiastic about our plan and took control of the parts I wasn’t very interested in like coordinating rentals. She was also invaluable while searching for vendors because she knew of local businesses and individuals who weren’t well advertised online.
